Ignition Switch Mistake

2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. 3800. I changed the ignition switch on the car following a well detailed set of directions. There was one difference. The car has an aftermarket auto start that was spliced into the wiring harness. I cut the new harness and spliced it in being careful to go one wire at a time. All of the demons have been corrected only now the low beam headlights shut off on their own and the headlight switch on the dash does not help. The dash switch when it does work seems backwards. turn switch on and lights go off. turn switch off and lights go on. Any input would be much appreciated.:th_sick2:

I'm seeing you say that you put in a new ignition switch and cut a bunch of wires to put your unnamed aftermarket starter into it and now your low beams act funny.

Honestly..I'm not seeing enough info to consider suggesting anything. Would you elaborate a bit, maybe add a few pictures of the wiring. Explain if you cut and twisted, crimped or soldered?

Back up and punt. Go to local JY and get an unmolested wiring harness. Just sounds like trouble in the long run. Just saying Good luck

Has the wiring to the headlight switch been molested?

Usually it would to flash the headlights.

It may sound confusing but it was a simple decision. ( I am an Electrician) The auto start module (not installed by me) is T spliced into the harness near the large connector. I simply cut the wires, one at a time, on the ignition switch side of the T splice and spliced the new ignition switch onto the harness. It is amazing how many things that ignition switch can affect.
