Last week someone attempted to steal my 97 gtp. They cut and ripped the wires out of the ignition switch. Basically I am searching for a replacement switch but the replacement plug (search by vin at GM dealer) has a different number of wires than the one that's in the car (12 wires).

Anyone ever run into this before on a 97? I had another 97 gtp that I junked last spring and have the column with a different ignition switch (14 wires). The vin on that one later

I know this is going to sound like a dumb question, but who tries to steal a 1997 Grand Prix?

I cannot remember if I yanked my steering column out of my 97 and put it in storage or not. If I make it out to my storage unit I can check and see if I have it and check the connectors and wires for ya.

That would be excellent sir. I have looked at all the of available options on rock auto and none match what I have. Based on the vehicle connector I would say that the plug end isn't modified. I should have a wiring diagram from a buddy at a dealership later today.

ive changed both them harness's, so ive been in that plug a few times now. just takes a screw driver to pry and pop it free from that black middle part. you'll see its got a grove and or a slot so it only fits one way and on one side, no fuking it up.
