Ignition Issue? Turn Key = Nothing

Got a 07 GP GT and when I went to start it I got nothing, no click, no turn over, no nothing but all the accessory worked. Almost as if the battery was completely dead but again everything else worked. Tried it a couple times with the key and remote start with no luck so I had my wife get me the other set of keys. It worked the second try with those keys and worked fine until yesterday when it did it again. Took a couple try's to get it started. Once it turns over it fires right up. Any idea what would cause this intermittent problem? Ive had this car a whole 4 days lol

The remote not the key, the keys could be from anybody and they would work if properly programmed to the car. but if you have an aftermarket alarm there may be a key hiding under the harness that is causing problems with coding keys. I assume you just bought the car and have no history on it.

Also the Drivers information center (DIC) will display "Starting Disabled due to Theft System" if it's a key program fault.

dirty tb could cause that,

or a crank sensor if its been stalling on you while driving and if the tach drops to zero for no reason as well.

wait edit: no crank at all? try beating the starter with a hammer, see if it will crank then. if still no crank put a test light to the small stud with a wire on the starter solenoid, then have some one turn the key to start, the test light should light up key to crank. if it dont you have power issue to the starter, relay ignition switch, something of that sort.

you can also try to jump the starter with a screwdriver, it should crank. if it dont somethings up ground cable or pos cable, or the starter is dead locked up.

Thanks, hopefully its just the starter solenoid not engaging the starter and I don't have to spend a lot of time troubleshooting it with my DMM. Maybe Ill clean the contacts on the relay for good measure. Its a real intermittent problem now but bound to fail hard at the worst time possible lol

On your car it's really easy to get to just jack it up (jackstand) enough to reach in there and it's right behind the front tube and if your as lucky as me everything is clean and easy access.

when the starter is bad on these newer cars you will hear a click from the dash when the key is turned and it fails to crank. you dont hear it from the starter any more.

Just left the dealer. He said it sounds like the ignition switch sensor. The bad part is once you restart the car twice it clear the code so he didn't see it. He said if happens again and I get it started to bring it right in before it clears.

It's under a 50/50 warrenty but once it happened the day I bought it they'd cover it 100%
