• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

If you had $500 What mod would you do?

So I got some cash from the insurance for my minor bumper damage. half is going in the bank the rest is play money.
Im trying to figure out the most effective/power per $ way to build more power.

Right now the engine is apart, down to the block, so install time isn't an issue. I have headers, an open cone, and a MPS. I do not have a tuner system yet, and im on the stock trans. it is not my DD, but I do want to be able to use as a backup car.

I have four thoughts,
1. Light cam,

2. tuner and 80# injectors for e85 conversion

3. wait and see if WBS or ZZP have a black Friday sale on an intercooler.

4. rockers

Intercool would be a good option, lets you pulley down safely and wont kill milage or drivability like a cam. E85 would kill milage also and 80# injectors are overkill. I would personally say though save it and put it towards tuition, im in the same pickle lol

I don't want to go all out (for now), just something to get it firmly away from the stock GTP. Id love to have over 300 Crank hp

1. You can get a cam for pretty cheep used.
2. 45# or 60# injectors would be better - but wont increase hp at all
3. Intercooler same as above won't increase hp at all
4. No a cam is a better option especially since the engine is already out of the car.

I would do what neb said if you just want a quick boost in power.

for 500 you won't be able to do any of the above except the rocker, and I wouldn't suggest those. intercooling is going to be more than 500 and a light cam won't be satisfying enough.

best bet is to do suspension mods like front and back strut tower braces, bigger sway bars and upgraded trailing arms.

Nos isnt really legal here, (yeah I know most of the mods violate some emission law or another)
But NOS on a street car is a big No No from what ive heard
With that being said, I would do a cam, new timing chain, springs, retainers, and ls7 lifters. If you shop around you should be able to find all of that for under $500

I have a set of LS7 left over from my monte, id just have to have them cleaned/checked by a machine shop. (bunch of metal was in that engine.
I have a rollmaster chain sitting on the shelf to put on.

no tuner though

Cam...

Since you already have it apart. Something like a VS/S1X/XP etc you don't have I go stupid big to enjoy a cam.

A IC setup is gonna run more then that and can always be added on later on without much hassle. E85 can also be added later on too without much issue.

I say this strictly because the engine is out. Do a cam and other engine items that are hard/impossible to do with the engine back in the car. You will be glad you did.
