Identifying motor.

So I grabbed another w body beater for 400 bucks tonight. It's a 99 gt coupe, rockers are gone but strut towers are clean. Runs and drives pretty darn good. Now here's my question, guy claims it's a l26 from an 05 but I noticed it has an l36 plastic upper intake, but I can tell the motor was swapped and the Lower intake is clean and gaskets look like the new kind, so my question is could they have used the l26 and bolted a l36 lower and upper intake to it? I mean like I said I can tell the motor was swapped there is evidence of it all over, every plug on the harness is color coded to its correct spot, trans bolts are clean, the motor is considerably cleaner than the trans blah blah. So why tell me it's a l26 if it's not? It's not like it makes any more power or anything, just wondering if I can take it to heart or just assume it's a l36. Thanks guys.

It's very easy to use the L26 bottom end and many times they were cheaper or easier to source.

I'm pretty sure the only way to tell is to open it up and look at the connecting rods because those are different than the L36. Otherwise if they swapped over all the other parts it's going to look exactly the same as a L36. GM didn't make the block any different for the series 3 engines.

Alright cool, so chances are the guy is being straight up. I'm not a fan of the intake setup the guy used, it's a 4inch cone slapped right on the tb. Good thing I got spare intakes laying around. Here's some pics of it Incase anyone wants to see this rusty old car, I was super happy to see clean strut towers and even new struts and mounts. For 400 bucks I'm stoked.

if he swapped the engine you re use the old intake manifold and tb to make life easy. the metal intake and tb is not a direct swap.

the oil pan might be aluminum too. unless that got swapped over too.

Ah ha! That's it I most definitely seen a silver pan when I got under her.

Super quick question, will a gtp radiator swap right into a gt? Car needs a radiator and I can get one out of a gtp locally for 35 bucks
