• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I went full retard - 2000 Si

Found out today that it burns oil like nobodys business while cold, called the guy i bought it from and he said "oh ya i forgot to tell you it needs valve guides."

SERIOUSLY!?

hondas do blow HG a lot, but this is valve seals i believe. i will fix it, it still runs great and has no rust.

They do but they're also simple motors to work on. I've helped build a fair share of them between buddies slap a turbo on one and those suckers will fly.

One of the many Hondas my buddy had. Had 70k motor and trans directly from Honda in it and original paint. Seriously one of the nicest non over the top Hondas I've ever seen. To bad he sold it

i got nothing against hondas until they put high rise wings on, 6 in tips, stick on scoops, purple hids, yellow fogs and some whacked out racing seats and then proceede to call my grand prix a pos. Thats when i get very agitated and start racing for cash.

I don't mind them when their tastefully done.. That means stock looking w/ maybe a simple lip, nice set of wheels, lowered a bit and no stupid huge ass wing or fart can.

OH if they look clean/have a massive turbo setup, then yeah they are cool, but the riced out ones make me want to break stuff.

I hope it's just the valve seals. It is pretty common around here to see people sell civics that have been modded, but swear they babied it. They pull most of their mods off, leave the cosmetic stuff, and throw it on Craigslist. Unsuspecting buyers who believe they didn't rag it out, but just wanted the looks, sound of the coffee can muffler, etc jump on them. After all they go forever without needing work right. Once they change the oil and get the heavy oil, motor honey, or whatever else was dumped in there its clear the motor is done and it needs rings at a minimum. My buddies see it pretty often at the shops they work at. Most of the time the assumption is that they over revved the motor trying to wi a race. At least in Houston I tell people to never buy a popular tuner model that has any mods done whatsoever.

^ exactly. The same buddy that owned that blue SI I posted earlier previous had another one that he traded for a turboed and Franksteined to **** one. What he thought he was getting really was someone's failed project and he didn't realize it until he really dug into it and just about everything was hacked to ****. Eventually blew the HG and had to rebuild. Thankfully he was able to find some young kid that wanted a modded a Honda and traded that stock SI for it. What a moron. Classic example of when HP gets in the way of logic.

One of the many reasons I preach not to buy a modded car because you really dk what your getting into it turns into a money pit quick.

it would really have to be ragged on for the rings to be bad with 80k. worst senerio ill have to rebuilt it or put a new motor in it. Body is still rust free and interior is great, so it'd deffinatly be worth it, hell i could probably get 7k out of it after i did that lol.
