So I wanna get some more mechanical experience. I do my own work on my GP but I wanna try finding some beater on craigslist to work on and have something cool, while simultaneously gaining mechanical insight. Can anyone here give me advice on what I should get? In the end I'd like a fun project but when I'm finished I'd like to be able to sell the rig and not lose any money on it; I don't have much to begin with.

Projects I've considered:

Any of these sorts of things worth my time or would I be throwing away money?
 


Firebird maybe but missing title is like 100 bucks and a prolly a pain in the butt to prove ownership all the way to you..

Im in Beaverton we should have a 2 car show.. never find anyone around here that wants to do anything GP.
 
Lol yea man! After I got mine a close buddy of mine picked up an anniversary addition. He's no modder but he likes to take care of it so far. He said we should go to Clackamas Town Center and park our cars across from all the Subaru kids and mock them.

I looked up the title thing and it's the same price as transferring one into your name, difference being the tracking down part. Could be a pain but meh at least not expensive.
 
Sounds fun! Idk when the ricers show up so you call the shots there lol its a 30 min drive for me if there is no traffic
 
Actually I'm in Keizer/Salem. Only pick me pull nearby is in Turner and it's kinda lame. Good to know though! I should head up there one of these days. My buddy used to live across from that mall so that's why he hates Subarus apparently. But he's not there anymore. I kinda stick to the less populated side of the valley myself.
 


I'd stay away from blown head gasket cars under 1k. At least in my experience the owner drove it and warped heads, etc... It depends on what your budget is F-Body platform cars can be had for relatively cheap. I prefer the 98-02's as the LS platform has plentiful aftermarket and stock performance parts. They are not to difficult to work on and there is a huge aftermarket. LS1tech.com helped me over the years.

196,000 Miles, V-6, Electrical issues, and needs new gaskets. Basically its trash, but I am in love with third gen F-bodies.

The guy said he'd sell it to me for 300 as long as I tow it (which I have a flat trailer for).
I figure that at the very least I either a.) have a platform for a V8 swap, or b.) can sell it for a minor loss.
Someone tell me I'm crazy.
