• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I think its cam time

Do this cam

That sounds sweeeeeeeeeet. Theres no info on it though.

I installed a PRJ LL cam in a guy's car with a set of ported heads with PBM 110 springs and a new stock timing set. He loved the cam, said MPG was great with it as well.

But, if you are going to do heads, you better pair it with an XPZ, S3, or similiar, or I will drive to you with a pair of tweezers, and pluck out every last one of your taint hairs.

I'm not doing heads, for a good while any if ever. So you can save your tweezers. lol

Installed my old top swapped L36 with the xp into my bonneville last week, aside from the lope at idle (which you can get rid of by bumping the idle to 9-950) you can hardly tell it's cammed under normal driving. Had a jp double roller before, pulled that crap off and went with a new stock cloyes chain/dampener, has comp 105's with ti retainers, when I had the heads machined they also cut the guides.

When I was using that engine for racing, it never floated the valves, believe I was using a commanded shift point of 6200. I'm not sure where "driveability" suffers with a cam the size of an xp, because I sure never noticed it. Havent got enough miles on the bonne yet to report mpg, still gotta run the old gas out of the tank (had been sitting almost a year with a full tank), but so far its taken 120 miles to get from F to the first line past F. Car has a zzp pcm in it as well, once i get my plog and ssic installed, and get it dialed in with my powrtuner, I'm sure the mpg will go up quite a bit. Gotta call BS on the whole losing low end crap too, I mean maybe on a dyno you'll see it, but on the street? You can still destroy the tires with ease under 30, we already have more low end than we know what to do with, it's the top end where our engines fall flat on its face.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd still choose the xp, but I never would've wasted money on a POS double roller chain setup.

are you running the failure prone comp 105s or crow 105s? iirc people had issues with the comps......

also have you rode in or drove a s1x car? i can compare mine to the xp cam jayroca had and id prefer mine but i dont believe his tune was that great and he didnt have a built trans so thats a huge difference in the trans alone. so basically not a fair comparison is my point.

That's Glanzer's car.

It had an XPZ.

His red car had a NIC in it.

XPZ sucks so much, NIC needs lots of love, my Thrasher was ignorantly awesome and broke things.

Just get an S1X and be done with it.

If you can tell the difference between an XP and S1X on the street riding in both cars with similar mods, then I'd give you my next paycheck.

My opinion: buy what you want, do it right the first time, an XP or S1X are baby cams, and finally this thread has gone three pages too far.

:)

imo for a sc car anything over s1x/xp/vs requires too much drama aka ported heads double rollers blah blah.....

my s1x car will get ported heads on next engine going in with head studs simply for more headroom/flow. and for damn sure it will never see an intercooler so ill take the added "incase tyler does something stupid" room ported hesds would offer. LOL!
learn from my broken parts haha stick with simple s1x xp or vs.....

everyone says go big cam but by the time you have everything we then would need to start bringing up expense vs turbo and stock cam.........

Most of the "drama" is unneeded bullsh1t.

I think more and more about the double roller I broke, was because it had 30k miles on it when I bought it, not the fact of it being a double roller. But if I ever build another 3800, it'll get a stock chain all day long.

Reptile and Will, along with Dave @ TEP are running cams north of .550+ lift on stock chains. Lots of miles, not any issues.

Hell I think even the Spirit of Bonneville, 200+ MPH, salt flats car ran a stock chain with the original race cam.

exactly my point the double roller itself requires work to run the damn thing.

i may consider a different cam when ported heads go on but i doubt ill change it.

I tried getting in touch with glanzer about that cam, got nothing.

I'll most likely pick up a used s1x.

Aside from pulling the cam is there anyway to confirm a wiped cam lobe?
