• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I TESTIFY--Shift Kit--ZZP to TEP

Finally got the LIM done on the 01 GT and the motor purrs like a kitten....but the transmission is acting just like Mr D's.:th_sick2:

I was planning on a tranny filter change anyway, so just ordered the Transgo kit from Triple Edge. They have a new package called the shift combo kit, which is basically the Transgo kit with the extra seals and gaskets that you need to get everything back together. Cost $25 more but I'm not knowledgeable about transmissions at all, so saves me having to chase down parts numbers of gaskets and small parts. Will try that along with a bottle of teh Lucas miracle stuff and see what happens.

Rule of thumb and it's in most filter kits on a piece of paper, Do not remove the filter seal unless the new filter is loose in it. Bill's rule, if you do need to change the filter seal, use a blind pilot bearing tool. Quick, e asy and done.

The servo doesn't need to get done unless you are having reverse issues. Most never do, I wouldn't typically suggest touching it.

I'll keep that in mind. I have never been inside a 4T65E so not sure what you're talking about but hope to understand once I open it up.

Round thing at the lower left is the servo. Follow the metal tubes to the right and that's the accumulator. The missing thing between the accumulator and the lower part of the casing is the trans filter. The black circle right below the accumulator is the filter seal.

Go to Google and search 4t65e shift kit install and there are several greatinks with great pics on site like ls1tech and gpona

Sweet, I had a 01 gt and never touched the trans, so I shift kit will be one of the needed mods before a pulley drop. Makes me nervous taking it apart, even tho everything looks hella simple

Haha thank, I'm sure it'll be fine. I'm in a mechanical trade, if ican rebuild a semi-hermetic ac compressor I'm sure I can handle this lol

I dunno even know what that thing is except a giant AC unit

It's a piston operated compressor, same concept of a motor, crank shaft, pistons, rings, valves even tho they are of a different kind lol, and heads

Bill thanks for the pic. I had the laptop up in the air to simulate what it's gonna look like when I'm on my back in the garage....LOL! So....it sounds like that filter seal is a real problem and should be avoided unless changing it is absolutely necessary?

I plan on installing the shift kit with the trans on the car, so if it's no accessible from the bottom, it ain't getting changed. Here's the kit I got from Triple Edge:

4T65E-Shift-Kit-Combo-Kit

It's basically the TransGo shift kit with the accumulator gasket, etc. Do I replace or re-use the pan gasket? Is there an upgraded gasket number if I need one?

BTW, thanks for the PB link, but pics are meaningless without your expert narrative. Seriously, as good as the pic above is, it wouldn't mean anything without know what part was what.
