i seriously need some help guys

Ya I was thinking about what sensors control timing, not too sure at what times but here it is.

Iat
Map
Cam sensor
Crank sensor
Knock sensor

So I'm buying another pcm for my 97 just to rule that out and as kejross was saying, I'm gunna start throwing parts at it starting with the crank sensor. As for the intake back fires, I can kinda here it when it does it. Kinda sounds like a quite pffff sound when my boost guage needle spikes.

If you start troubleshooting yeahright, post up what works and doesn't and ill do the same.

Hey there nice to hear from ya. That makes sense actually. it might just be cheaper to do that then keep buying sensors. It'll get expensive I just might have to do that. Thanx for that advise matt.

Edited cuz I was thinking and typing at the same time

If mine acts up anywhere near home next time I plan to jack it up & unplug the knock sensors temporarily to see if that has any effect. I'm getting one of those bluetooth OBDII adapters on order & the Torque app so I can at least watch sensor inputs to have a shot at diagnosing this thing.

A cheap check would be to swap out the fuel filter. Have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it to see what it is running at? Check idle then rev it and watch what it does.

Mine had this issue as well. Went with a catless DP and it helped for a bit then came back as mentioned above. Swapped out Fuel filters and it has been gone for about 30k now. Car has 280,000 miles on it.

Well swapped pcm and knock module with no change in performance or driveability. It wouldn't hurt to check the fuel pressure but I'm getting ready to sell it for like 500 bucks. Since I've had the car less then a year, I've put almost a grand into it just to keep it running. I'm tired of putting money into it, and who knows how much its going to cost and who knows how long it till be before it freakin breaks down again. I'm throwing my hands up and walking away from it. I like gtp's but once they start to have problems might as well turn it in it seems like. I would love to own another gtp but one that is newer and not so many miles or problems.

Well after swapping the pcm and the knock module I hooked a fuel test kit to it and measured the psi at 40 key on, ideling, and steady rev. with the fpr vacuum disconnected it was about 50 psi. But while I was under the hood I was hearing a noticeable whisteling but I sprayed wd 40 every where that I could see and no difference in engine sound. But I do think it is a vacuum leak cuz when I hold the throttle open steady and increase lightly it gets louder to a point then stops, when I let off it comes back but like I said I'm having trouble pinpointing it. So a vacuum leak would explain why my fuel trims are all off, severe knock retard, bad mpgs. It seems to be somewhere around the back of engine or around the crossover pipe. When I twitch the throttle it also seems to hang for a second just above idle speed.
Thoughts?
