My low effiency cat code came up recently. my mechanic deleted the code and said to come back if it comes on again. Now its back again and i took the car to him. He quoted me $420 for a new cat, thats just the part price, not labor. I laughed and said i could get one cheaper..However i need suggestions..Stock GT btw.

do you have emissions? If not hack it off. You can get a replacement cat off ebay for cheap. 420 for a new cat, thats a rip off..

Take a sawzall, cut the cat out, then take a long rod or pipe and jam everything out until you can see through the cat. Then just have someone weld it back on and paint it so it doesn't rust. You will not have any more cat problems and its "legal".

isnt 420 the cat code aswell
Just get a cat from zzp and have it welded in if you dont already have a dp nows the time

lmao 420 . . .wtf?
im getting my downpipe replaced in my car with the header setup so if u havn't replaced it by then. then i geuss we can talk a price if its able to fit on your car. . . .

If you want fitment...and your not going for performance...just get a universal magnaflow cat off of fleabay for like $50-$75 or something like that. While your up there though...have the U-Bend taken out for sure. It'll give you better MPG's too just a FYI. But for christ's sake...take it to someone who knows their ass from a hole in the ground and not the same place that butchered your car earlier.

im going to order a magnaflow from zzp. I need the 2.5 right?

and blue im NEVER going to monroe, this will be done at our family mechanic

Measure the pipe. You'd be better off going with the Downpipe with the cat though. It will make your car run peppier and give you better MPG. Just my $0.02

He is quoting you the stock replacement part plus his markup probably.

Not a cut and splice in cat...

$420 is for the downpipe... In other cars you have to buy larger sections of the exahaust so to save time i said cat system.

Buy the ZZP downpipe already.

so if i order the 2.5in bolt on with cat, do i need a 02 bung or gaskets? also, could i install this myself? i never did any exhaust work and am limited in knowledge
