I just have some ?s on cam kit

Hello i just want to get some opinions on the cam kits at Autozone, has anyone used them or know anything about them. The reason i ask is that i just started workin at Autozone and want to soak up the discount if i can , that is if it will be a good kit. Is there any other things that i will be able to get there, cause i dont plan on working there long. Thanks

Listen, if want a cam for a 3800... autozone is not the place. Google ZZP, Intense... if you want a cam. Depending on gaskets, fluids.. you might get a local deal.

But I got my s1x intense cam for 325 and all other parts locally... ie new timing chain etc..you can't half-ass it with a cam install.

As far as the rewards... its nice

So what mods would i need? what would be the best cam with the fewest mods. This car just had a fresh rebuild with a new crank, cause my old was beyond repair. :th_nanana: I also was wantin to know if a shift kit would be any harder on my trans.

ok thanks, but what i am trying to get at, is will have to get any other things like a tune, i know i am going to get the rockers when i do it, but someone told me i would need injectors, pushrods. I dont think that is needed, unless im wrong!! I am trying to see if i should wait and build up the other motor i have or or start putting things in the one in the car little by little. I just dont have all the money to do every thing at once. Thanks for the help

If you are going cam you won't want to change your rockers out for any higher ratio than you have now if i'm correct. You can however get roller rockers . You will also need new springs at a higher rate. You could probably get all your gaskets from AZ.

If your asking these questions...you shouldn't be modding these kind of cars...sorry to be blunt. There is LOTS of information out there you could be reading and learning about the very things your asking...instead of saying...is this good...or that...or can I do this...or that.

You NEED a tune with a cam if your going to beat on it. IMO, you NEED headers...let it breathe. You don't need bigger injectors but if you plan on running a sub 3.1" pulley...get them now. Then you'll need another tune for the new fuel map required with the new injectors. You can run higher ratio rockers on a smaller cam like the VS...but when you get into bigger stuff like the S1X or XP...just get the stock sized ones...Rollers if you want to. For the install kit...buy the cam kit from ZZP. Done.
