• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I have full boost now.

Ok, so i just finished up my alcohol install, and finally started driving my car again. The car has no alcohol running to it at the moment since i don't have the controller wired to a 12v ign source yet. Everything else is wired and installed. So i go today to drive my car and was missing the feeling of putting my foot into it after not driving it for 3 weeks. I put my foot into it and got one bar on the DIC boost gauge at partial and all the way up to full throttle. Then on the way home tonight i did the same thing and have zero boost at all.

The car feels just as strong as it does with the gauge showing full. No idling issues whatsoever, and the BBV seems to open and shut like it should and not stick. I did however tap into the B (green) connector on the MAP sensor for a MAP input on my alcohol controller. I don't know if that has anything to do with anything seeing as how the alky kit isnt actually powered on at all yet. I've ran over the vac lines quickly for leaks, but will further inspect tomorrow. I'm just puzzled. It seems to run just as strong, but maybe I havent driven it in so long that i cant tell.

Suggestions?

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

get a real boost gauge and that one will no longer matter. spend the $40 for something that is a great help to diagnosing problems.

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

I know I need a real boost gauge, but i just dont have the money for one right now. I tried the whole disconnect the lower vac line on the BBV and let it suck air and it gave me one bar of boost again, but still no dice. Did the MAP splicing cause a problem? I wouldnt think it would. I checked every t-fitting and elbow for disconnections and found none. The car as I said still runs fine, and the pcm hasnt thrown a code for anything. So i'm out of ideas...

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

i may not know much on this issue but from reading my guess would revolve around a vacuum leak of some kind. bio and others have experince in this area(one day ==me too).i know when imessed up the vacuum hose that goes to firewall and over by the fuse box, finally going under it, my gauge didn't work. anyway good luck -i'm suscribed to this thread.

Ill have to check every line tomorrow and let everyone know. If not then im out of ideas, lol.

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

Get a cheapo sunpro gauge then...come get one from the zone ;)

While i'm at it i'll get some fender vents and a chrome gas door sticker:th_laugh-lol3:

Idk, i might pick one up from there or O'reilly cheap.

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

i also think its a vacuum leak somewhere because you shouldnt have to take the line off the BBV since yours functions correctly.

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

Well I looked it over again today, still no dice. I'll pick up some carb cleaner and spray around and see if i get any changes in idle. If not there i'll pick up a cheap boost gauge and go from there.

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

You did just install the meth injection...did you use a TB spacer? If so I'd check to see if you put the gasket on the right way...

I'm almost positive I did, would it cause that much loss?

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

Very much so...either that is your issue or the BBV is shot like I told ya...

I did the BBV disconnect trick and it did nothing. I did notice my DIC lights flickering on the left side, but i don't think it has anything to do with it, the lego bricks still light up. I bought a boost gauge today, but the vac hose provided is too big, i'll have to get some that will fit it and let you know.

Re: Factory Boost Guage reads Zero boost....

Well I think I have found the culprit, maybe. I hooked up my new boost gauge real quick to see what I was getting. I'm getting 20 inHg at idle, and around 3-4 psi boost revving in park. Upon further inspection I took off the vac line running from the T under the supercharger snout that runs to the MAP and found a needle size hole and a chip out of the line. I blew into the line and found that air was able to escape. And upon even further inspection, where the line fits into the T under the snout is nearly snapped into two. So i'm hoping I can get new lines see what happens.

I fixed it. It had always been something lurking in my mind as to what was the problem. I had to tap into the map sensor connector for my alcohol controller. I used the positaps provided with the kit. But instead of the positap scoring the surface of the wire and successfully tapping the source, the positap went right through the map wire leaving ZERO connection to the sensor. I took the alcohol wire off along with the "POS"itap and did the good ol fashion strip and twist until I buy some heat shrink connectors. Now I get full boost..... end of story. Thanks for all the suggestions and help!

No kiddin eh... I was going to order some posi taps. I think i might just stick with some wire connectors like this.

Sure alot cheaper and probably less failure.
