• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

I hate PO's. (things I did today)

So, Hi...new here...have a thread in the newbie section...figured I'd post here.

Bought an 06 GP base a month or so ago. Looks solid but when you really get into it it's a mess. Someone had this car really far apart and I think it was T-boned on the passenger side at some point judging from the non-stock strut on the passenger side as well as horribly done taped off hack paint lines. Someone didn't want to remove trim. Ugh.

The good news is the car is *almost* rust free, super clean interior and it's got a new water pump and hoses on it.

First week I had it I realized the trans niggles we talked about when I looked at it for the trade I did are bigger than niggles...they were the P1811 max adapt woes. Quoted 1800 for the local guys (a VERY well respected and well known trans shop in Topeka) to do a complete overhaul with all of the updates. Can't afford that right now. Decided to try and do the Trans-Go kit and fresh filter and fluid. Finished that today and it definitely made a positive improvement. A few days of driving and I'll know for sure. I think I have a bad CV joint, too...having some clicking when I drive that is speed dependent. Grr.

The fluid that came out of the trans was f***ed. He says they changed it. I think they were full of shyte. Even so, they hadn't done the kit... so I did the kit, added a new Hastings filter with a new mounting rubber and buttoned it all up with a proper OEM-style gasket (Federal Mogul Brand) and 7 1/2 Quarts of Amsoil OE Dex 6.

Then I figured since they lied about that I should probably see if they really did put plugs in.

Nope. Original AC Delcos with a gap of .080" !!!!! Not to mention when I pulled off the plug wire the boot ripped into three pieces, one of which was FUSED to the spark plug and ripped the connector off. Thankfully I had a spare around that will do the job until I get replacements. I think I'm going with Bosch Iridiums. I've always had good luck with Bosch plugs.

I think this is going to be one "those" cars. Like a pig with lipstick kinda deal.

But I washed it when I was done today and it sure is a good looking car. I've always loved the gen 7 body style. Some of the best Pontiacs they ever made, styling wise. I find the Gen 6's boring. Personal preference. :-D

Now to make chocolate chip cookies with my little girls. <3
