alright well as some of you know i am going to buy a new pioneer avh-p1400dvd head unit and i want to bypass the parking break. im also aware that you cant just ground the parking break wire cause it has to be grounded after the unit is turned on. so i need a 12v relay... if any of you have suggestions on a specific relay feel free to suggest one. also what size is the wire of the head unit harness? because i need to know what size female connector to get as i am clueless what size i need and how wide the prongs on the relay are so i can use the female connectors on the relay. also if you know how many wires are in the harness by chance and could tell me so i know how many butt connectors to buy thatd be awesome too. thanks for the help

Usually around 18 -20ga isn't it? The wires are pretty small. As for the parking brake i know there's a work around. Do some googling.

I had a touch screen dvd player in 1 of my old cars and all I did was I'm in the parking brake wire to switch and grounded out the switch

yes the way to bypass it is with a relay I just don't know what size the wires or prongs on relay are to get the right female connectors

If you head to the parts stores etc..most of the prongs/connectors are meant to work together. I've never looked at the sizing other than the gauge of the wire for the connector.

What you need to do is run a ground wire to pins 30 and 85 from the body or the radio ground. Run the amp turn on wire from your head unit (blue/white) to pin 86 and then run your parking brake wire from the radio to pin 87. If your relay also has an 87A, do not connect anything to it.

What this will do is make the radio connect it's own ground to the parking brake wire when it turns on the remote amp. I've tested this in a Pioneer a couple of times and it works great.

yeah I saw that single connector but I'd rather use the female connectors but I only need like 4 maybe up to 10 not 100 of them lol

so should i get butt connectors that are also 22/18 gauge?
also i think i may just get that bag of 100 cause it seems to be the cheapest

now if i have the pioneer wire harness right (taken from owners manual)

i take the black wire and then connect it to the black wire here to hook up the radio regularly

...but to add the relay, would i just splice the wire somewhere in there (at butt connector) or plug the one from the pioneer to the relay? and then dont plug it to the adapter
