I don't get it, with VS CAM stock springs are fine, but rockers need stiffer springs?

It doesn't say the rockers are recommended anywhere, it says the retainers are.

As said above, you mise well upgrade the valve springs while you're in there or keep your shifts low. I think 5400 is pretty far on the safe side though.
 




Whats scaring me away from a cam upgrade is the stories I've heard about cam bearings failing shortly after a cam swap... since my engine has 100.000 miles on it I'm a bit concerned that might happen to me.
I mean... 100.000 is not "very" high mileage, but certainly not "fresh" either.

What do you guys think? Should i risk a cam swap?
 
There are a lot of people here who have modded well past 100k. I think the big thing is checking over your block carefully. Do compression, cylinder leakdown, and oil pressure tests before you think about modding. Make sure your engine is mechanically up to the challenge. While disassembling, check things over too. Like if you are doing a cam, make sure you look in the cam journals at the bearings. If they look wiped, you can replace them even with the engine in the car with a cam bearing tool. When I did all my stuff on my 3800, these were the steps I took, and it runs awesome and makes great power. Unfortunately, the trans did not fare as well, but that's no fault of mine.
 


Wonder if the cam bearing failures are an aussy thing? Although the motors are identical to ours, they were not assembled in the states.. the parts were shipped in raw and machined there. We have already found a few differences between a aussy l67 and a usdm l67 via the crankshaft issue... it may be possible there are small differences in the cam?
 
Cam oiling on the Aussie blocks are different as well, thanks to all the holes drilled out in the lifter valley; but I'd venture to think that'd only help the cause, not harm anything.
 


Cam, headers, intercooler, gen 5, etc...... At 130,000. New chain I got from ZZP broke 2-1/2 years later taking out the valves and stuff.
 
The springs and chain should be good together. I think the springs will work with the cam, check the bind height and lift.
