hv3 question

Im sorry that im asking this question because im sure that the awnser is on this site but since the search button wont let me search for that word and I cant really find what im looking for for ill just ask. What is hv3? what does it do? and how do you make a n/a engine better by either replacing it or removing it.

sorry again i just kinda wanted to know

the hv3 is an insert that goes on the inside of the upper intake manifold. it increases your top end considerably compared to stock because of the way it flows compared to the stock runner insert.

HV3 is the third version of ZZP's High Velocity Intake Insert. It replaces the runners in the plenum with shorter ones, shifting your powerband up.

To benefit fully from it...get a ZZP PLOG and a 3" Downpipe...Let your car breathe first before moving more air.

I just replaced that a few mounths ago cause i had to replace the upper plantum. it probbly isnt the right one though is it? i got it from car quest

ya sorry now that i reread that it didnt make any sence at all. my bad. I had a coolant leek right under that plantum so I got a new plantum and gaskets which included the "guts" for the inside of the plantum. im assuming the guts is what your talking about when you say hv3. its the insert that goes inside the plantum right? is there anyway of knowing if its the hv3 or is it probably just the oem one? Id like to do my down pipe but I really dont think Ill be doing to many mods on my engine since I really dont know a hole lot about em(enough to be able to replace bigger gaskets but that is about it). so real question hv3 or not?

figures. is it only zzp that makes hv3? I really wish I would have known about this before I replaced that plantum

Yes, the only place to buy a HV3 insert is from ZZP.

It's N/A... a plog and 3" dp is not really needed. If anything spend the money on a 2.5" dp to get rid of the u-bend and retain some low end torque.

I know its N/A...that's why I said what I did. I would never waste money on a 2.5" DP.

You may be right, I don't know so that's why I am asking. Is their any actual proof that a 2.5" dp is not sufficiant for a N/A car? I see this alot on here so that's why I am asking. Im still running a stock dp with the ubend gone. I see no KR on 11 psi. What benefits would I see switching to a 3" pipe?

what is the ubend ive heard of this but never really asked the question

After the downpipe on the exhaust, GM decided to put an o2sensor in. They didn't want it sticking out to the side or below the exhaust so the created a "U" shapped bend so the sensor could sit ontop. This is a major restriction on the cars and really kills the flow. By removing it they mean the section with the "U" shape out and replace it with a straight section of piping. Can be doe pretty cheap at any exhaust shop if your not one fore tackling it yourself.
