huge exhaust leak resulting in loss of back pressure causing tranny problems?

My exhaust leak got 100 times worse today. It now sounds like an indi car... at the same time as the exhaust leak got worse (i floored it from a stop light) the tranny and whole car in general started acting weird.. idle goes up and down. Doesnt shift when its supposed to.. etc... im going to get the exhaust leak fixed tomorrow (resonator cut out and pipe put in)....

What do you guys think the chances of this fixing some of the new problems is?

uhhhh wtf for one thing and 2...an exhaust leak at the resonator isnt going to affect your tranny in anyway, shape or form..mainly because, its after the first o2 so your'e not going to be concerned with any umetered air causing too lean of conditions.

and back pressure isn't really a problem in these....at all

your check engine light on, or flashing?

and yeah an exhaust leak wont do anything but annoy your ears. when you go to the shop ask them to put a glass pack instead of a resonator, its cheaper and does the same thing. if they don't sell glass packs ask if they will install parts you bring to them, they cost 25 bucks at autozone. you want the one with 2.25 in and out lets and the same length as what you have now. or close to it.

this is a glass pack new flange and new gasket

cut one tube off and weld on flange.

Yeah ive heard of the glasspack method, but the shop we take our cars to will cut it and replace with pipe for $20.. i did it to my last grand prix for the same reason. Ill ask him about the glass pack tho. Is there any benefits to glass pack vs just a pipe?

What does it sound like... (if you could try to discrie it..)... i know what glass packs on a truck sound like but i dont want me car to sound like a teuck...

the glass pack makes the car sound just like stock should/would be.

it takes the drone and rasp out of the exhaust 0 restriction, its a straight through pipe with some fins around the inside edges.

Ok gotcha. Yeah I think tomorrow I will get a hold of one of my detail customers who dose custom jeep fabrication and see how much hed charge to cut res and cat off and put glasspack with pipe on...

Got exhaust fixed today. Probably just coincidence but it does seem to shift better... still not perfect tho so im going to do another tranny flush and add Lucas this this time.... the car lacks power... idk why... plugs look good.

don't flush it any more!

either suck a quart out the dip stick or crack the pan and dump a quart, then dump in the lucas stuff. to many flushes are not good, especially if you have a problem, the first flush you did started all this mess, i'd bet money on that.

if you did do one flush recently that is. covers one's own ass :th_laugh-lol2: but you say flush it again.... so... lol

i have a 2005 grand prix gt. the trany acts like it forgets to down shift when i stop?? also when i punch it it jurcks really hard, meaning it is shifting really hard?
