Hub Assembly causing thunk?

I had to have one front wheel hub assembly replaced when I got my GP checked out, and the shop told me the the other front hub assembly had some play and would need to be replaced. When I first start moving, and turn the wheel, I get a "thunk" from the front of the car. Is this the hub assembly, and should I just wait or get it fixed immediately? The Haynes manual made it sound like it's not an easy DIY, but they also scared me about doing my exhaust manifolds and that wasn't too bad, just time consuming.

I've seen hub assemblies for about $300, so that's why if I can do it myself I would.

sounds more like sway bar bushings, about $15 each, and easy to do (as are hubs if you can do brakes)

Hmm. I had a new sway bar installed from the GMPP kit, and I thought it including bushings, but maybe I'm wrong. I trust the shop that installed it did it correctly when they put the kit on. Anything I can lift it up and take a look at to confirm?

not really, but you can look at the bolts, and if real rusty are not replaced unless it's been a while (I would also imagine the bushings would be poly not rubber )

Ok, I still haven't climbed underneath my car to find the noise, but it sounds like some kind of rubbing when I make a sharp turn on acceleration from a stop. Turning at 15-20 MPH or higher, it's not there. It sounds like something it rubbing at the front driver's side wheel. I guess it could be a bad installation of the bushings from last month, but like I said, the hub assembly is also bad. Since I have had a shop install the handling kit, I'll probably take it back there and have them take a look at it. Anyone have ideas what else it could be?

do you have aftermarket wheels? I have seen some tires rub only at speed when cornering (just happens to get the right angle on everything)

Thanks anyway. I have to take the car to get a tranmission cooling line replaced, so I'll have them check the wheel as well.
