You spent the large amount of money, now you need to read and read and read.

You can't learn anything without reading and learning to use the scanner functions. You don't have to change anything right away, you can read get the cars files and see what can be adjusted. Learn what things mean, learn how changing things affect what the car does. Like he said, buy a book or two.

Engine Management Advanced Tuning by Greg Banish is only like 20 bucks, great book for a beginner. It won't tell you exactly how to tune a vehicle in a step by step way but it goes over tons of topics about how the motor works, how the computer works and how sensors read data.

I bought HP Tuners is 2012, I still learn new things all the time but I bet it took me several months to start understanding what exactly is going on.
