hp tuner question

2000GTP

if i buy an hp tuner soon for my car, and i buy the gm one would it still be the same software basically that the ford one is? would i be able to buy credits for ford cars also and use them? i am asking this because i know some people who have fords also that they might want tuned

once you buy the tuner it comes with so many credits(usually 8) It takes so many credits to unlock a vehicle. You will have to look and see on their list of compatible vehicles to see if it will work on the ford vehicles they have. HP tuners just recently opened it up to ford so i don't think alot of cars are supported but they are adding to it all the time. And yes the software looks the same for either gm or ford but will only show parameters specific to each vehicle.

I've talked to HPTuners about their compatibility with other vehicles. They said by December their Ford and Dodge lines should be as deep as the GM vehicles, however, with that said I had been reading on the website that they had been making promises of many vehicles to be done with in a time frame and it hasn't happened. Apparently the Dodge Hemi crews have been waiting around for a tuner on the Chargers, Rams, etc.. HPTuners has made many promises on the time frame when they will deliver. I was reading some posts that they said they would have everything done by Spring of 08, and well they still aren't done.

Don't think of this as a bad thing though. Some people are but I am not! They want their product to be perfect. They are a pretty good sized company but for what they are doing it should be bigger, but they refuse to hire just anybody. They want the top of the top. Look at their requirements to even be considered for an interview!

Their is a list on HPTuners website that shows what cars will work. All I remember seeing for Ford was the 05+ V8 Mustangs and the Ford Truck lines. That is it. I asked them about a Focus and SRT-4 and they said yes they are working on them. I asked them about imports, such as Nissans, and they said currently they are not working on anything else, but plan to in the future. They just want to finish their current lines they are working on.

I hope this helps!

BTW your car will cost 4 credits if you allow it to tune all cars of your specific year, which would be 2000 for you or 2 credits if you only want your single car. I used 4 Credits to do all 1998 Grand Prixs. Might as well. I'll help others tune and have them simply pay for the credits it would cost me to put on my tuner. If someone has a 1998 then hey, I made a little bit of cash back. ;)

I hope this helped!

I know when I purchase more credits to add more cars on the checkout page you have to select what make the credits are for like GM, Ford, Dodge . Im not sure that they interchange or how exactly it is done so you may want to ask when you purchase it for a GM car if the 8 credits you recieve will only work on a GM car, or if you can use the 4 credits for your GM car and the other 4 credits towards another automaker

They are non interchangeable! Make sure you buy the tuner that comes with 8 GM credits or else you'll have to purchase 4 of them, and you'll be stuck with 8 Ford credits you'll probably never use...
