Howling Problem

Hello everyone.

I just purchased a 2000 GTP with 101000 on it. It had a few issues that I have addressed however the newest is a howling sound only when I begin to accelerate regardless of what gear it is in. It seems most noticeable just as the boost gauge starts to show. The harder I accelerate the less it Howls. Does anyone have any ideas???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have a cone filter? At certain throttle positions mine has a deep whistle. I guess you could call it a "howl".

No vacuum leak and yes to full boost. The filter is a K&N. I just checked the supercharger oil level. It is low and likely shot. I ordered 2 bottles and will change it as soon as they arrive. Thanks for the input. I will keep you posted.

Update. I have changed the supercharger oil, did an air intake mod to a cone filter, checked again for a vacuum leak and it still howls. What I did notice is that it seems to be coming from the rear of the car. I was slowly going down my road with the window down, pressed the pedal and sure enough it is coming from the rear. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks.

It only does it right when I start to give it gas and at any speed. The harder I accelerate the noise is much less. It almost seems as though it is the exhaust.........

Like I've been saying. It only does it getting on the gas. Sure enough the leak in the exhaust that started as a howl is now a rotted through pipe. So now the question is do I just replace the cat and system after the cat or do the headers at the same time?? Decisions decisions.........

Look inside the resonator with a flashlight though.

They can fail and peel inwards creating a larger restriction than the stock U bend.
