How to replace front hubs

I changed hub because there was play in it, no abs/TCS lights prior, no problems, just a loose bearing.

Plug old hub in with the connector to confirm possible bad hub, or does it have to move to trip the code.

Thanks, I'll do that, thought of it just prior to your reply. I have a second (new hub) too, so if bad ill just return it. Will totally sux if I screwed wiring :( shouldn't have though, was easy taking it apart and back in. Too easy and now the GP Gremilns are out to get me.

Ok, edit...

Plugged old hub in, no light, so bad new hub out of the box!
:(

Note to self... When there's a plug to connect, check it first before busting your ass taking things apart and wasting time. Lol

Also, will be checking 2nd hub prior to install. And I bought the Moog's cause 3 year warranty!

Oh those gremlins!

That was your first problem , you got moogs. Buy timken end of story. Ive had to replace my moog already in under a year and its bad again.

Moogs were more then timkins wernt they?

Yes, $2 more... Like I said, 3 year warranty is a good sales pitch!

Checked the other (new) one in the box by connecting it and it works fine. I'll check wiring on bad hub when I take it off, see if maybe I nicked wire or something, but I doubt it.

Ginseng... That's not good and now I've got buyers regret, lol. I've used lots of Moog stuff and its all been good, never had a DOA like this though.

Arn't Timken made in China now (like everything else)? I know they use to be good but I haven't heard anything good lately.

Moog and Timken are the same thing. I've got Moogs on 3 corners of my car and have zero issue.

Swapped the hub out, took under an hour being all the bolts were already loose, lol. Turns out one of the wires to the ABS connector was completely out/off of hub. Had no issue installing so t had to come that way. Totally sucked having to do it twice, but RockAuto is good, return prepaid and swapping part no problems! Sorry to muddy up the how to thread, if admins wish, they are more than welcome to clean it up with removing my noise. Thanks all! : )

Gawd, this was the worst experience ever:th_angry-cussing:!! everything was completey seized together. Took a couple hours to get the thing out.....both pieces.
Anyways....Thanks for this thread:th_thumbsup-wink:.

This is false, moog is a toss up of being manufactured in the us and in china. Timken is manufactured in korea. Timken is a higher quality bearing period.

If Timken is better then why does Moog have a better warranty?
Because thats how they sell a ****ty product. Ive never once in the 2 years being behind the counter at my store defected a timken bearing. The chinese cheap **** yes usually within a couple months. When i worked at advanced and sold moog i defected plenty.

I've never heard one person have issues with Moog products. I know several people that work at Advance and they haven't had many returns on the Moog bearings.

Just because someone returns something and says it is defective, doesn't make it so. For instance, the exact game that Scotty has talked about probably occurs more than anything. You replace one bearing, but keep the box and receipt and when the other goes bad you remove the bad one and say it was the one you bought 8 months before that.

So your saying that the bearingsi defected that still had the yellow or blue paint on them and were locked wernt actually moogs? Or the one that i put on my car less that a year ago wasnt with a bad sensor after being on the car 2 months, then after defecting it and putting on the new one it was fixed? That wasnt bad either? Or now the fact i have to replace another due to a **** connecter?

Ill stick to timken. You dont need a 3 year warrentee when the part doesnt go.

I'm saying I haven't had any issues, and no one I know personally has either. Maybe you just had a run of bad luck. I've been there with the bad luck on transmissions with my Stealth. Only two other people have broken more 3000GT/Stealth transmissions than I have and I quit racing/beating on the car years ago.

Possibly yes but i believe like i said the moog parts are a mix up of quality and ****. Ive taken the exact same part numbers and same boxes and had different manufactured/quality parts in them on multiple occasions. If im paying that much money for a part i expect to get the quality one. Now i know for a fact every one of my timken bearings are stamped made in korea.

my driver side front pulled the same deal. i had to beat the hub out of the knuckle then those other parts were still in the knuckle, i was like wtf? so i got a fat punch and a baby sledge and just pounded the last parts out. came out rather easy too.
