How to remove an alarm from a car that was purchased.

This car that I bought has an alarm in it and the owner did not have any fobs. It's a project car and I had to trailer it home. At first it would not turn over and that problem was a shifter. By the time the battery had some charge it was dark and I quit messing with it. I did sneak out later and try and see if it would turn over and it did, but it would not bust off. This has been sitting for a long time and it may just be out of gas. :) Since I don't have the fobs, I guessing if I want something like that I just need to get a newer alarm, maybe even remote start. Also that would give me ability to remotely unlock the doors.

Anyway for now, I just want to remove it. Of course I can follow wires and re-splice them. I just want to make sure there is not something more complicated. My 02 remote start hooked into the tac, this has a wire wrapped around the plug wire, looks like it is sensing by induction. I have not traced the wire yet, maybe something else, but I doubt it. I included a picture of the switch and there is a little toggle switch also. Can anyone guess the brand? Where would the put the control module(s)?

Something you could do is find the model number on what you have installed already and get remotes for it. Download the instructions and use what you have. You could probably remove it and move on as well.

"but it would not bust off." - Not understanding what the cars is supposed to bust off.

I will root around under the dash and see if I can find the module. Just trying to have as much info before I crawl under the dash. :)

Just something I heard when I was young from oldtimers. I guess it is out of date, I just assumed when the engine started it went faster all of a sudden.

I am a little worried, amidst the started normal wine pattern, there was a constant thud. Didn't spend a lot of time, but at first blush kind of sounded like hammer on metal.:(
 
It's likely just the compression. Like when you start turning a motor by hand..compression isn't constant, but it's in a place you definately feel it hit.

Of course I was busting you...but before I could bust out...I needed to know what it meant.

Yea, but this was a knock, could be timing, but I don't know if it was trying to fire. I will look at it tonight, poke it and see what squeals. The bad thing is my wife is at church camp cooking this week and I have no one to turn it over while I check for fire. The other bad thing is she not home to cook for me. :-(
 
I don't think I have ever installed an alarm that had all of the wires labeled like that. It would seem to me that would be a guide for a thief if they were able to get inside my car.
