how to properly measure a sc pulley

Used a set of dial calipers, going back over to the garage today to work on my engine , ill look harder see if there is any numbers , I do know this , much smaller looking than stock

It has a set of diamond pistons , headers , gonna put colder plugs in it , and a fender cold air intake , motor is tore down to the short block , think the ecu has been tuned also , stock cam , and I'm gonna port the heads a little bit , run a 160 stat

Diamond pistons - waste

Boring block - waste

160* - waste

stock cam with ported heads - waste

not knowing if it is tuned or not - more of a problem.

My suggestion. Go get the PO and find out WTF is going on 110%.

Then, go buy a stock short block, stud the heads, re-gasket and get new fluids, port the heads, run a cam of some sort because porting the heads with a stock valvetrain would be a waste. Start off with a 3.4" pulley and go from there when you have a way to tune it, because a 3.1" will be too small. Probably running the factory injectors static as well which is no bueno.

So yea

Rebuilding the bottom end = fail 90% of the time.

Only if you don't know the correct steps.

People just slap it in and the reason they don't stay together is because 100% of those 90% don't line bore the mains...which kills the rebuild...making it a 50 mile winner.

Well engine was gone through about 35k ago , I just opened up to check the mains and rods , make sure they was ok , no abnormal wear or anything like that . I am a tad old school , built a few engines in the past , mostly Chevy 350 . Just didn't want to get this engine in the car and have a knock or something internal wrong ya know . Gonna put new gaskets , plugs and what nots , tore heads down last night , gonna take off the casting flash in the runners and blend the bowls . But the engine has has the headers , pulley , and pistons in it for 3 years or so and everything inside looks to be in good shape
