HOW TO: Hand polish engine parts

I take it you've never polished metal before? :th_shakinghead1:

The pics above are some polished some chrome plated. If i'm not mistaken
the steel parts are chrome, the aluminum polished. If you polished a supercharger by hand i would guess it would take around 50-60 hours to do:eek:

Best off paying for a metal finishing co. to do it.

I wouldn't polish the steel cross bars or engine mounts as they will need touch up almost dailey!

Good luck and post some pics of your work.

with a compressor and a die grinder wouldnt that cut down polish time
never polished metal before just thinkin out loud

yea but when i get my new compressor I may have to try it out maybe start with the exhaust trumpets lmao and work my way up to the trans case

Has anyone else used this method for polishing? I'm thinking I may try it out on the cross braces and dog bones...

If you have never tried to polish anything before be ready to do some work when i seen how good the exhaust tips look i decied to do it and about $80 later i have nice looking tips. It cost me so much because i got sick of hand polishing and said f this and got a dremel witch was worth it but like i said be ready for some work and its messy and the aluminum really stinks.
