well my catback and headers got here yesterday and i mock assembed them on the garage floor to make sure everything is good. except for some missing hardware and the fact i still have to fabricate a downpipe, i'm good to go. the only other issue is the borla cataback was WELDED onto the previous owners car.

that leaves me with no flange to bolt up, (i was gonna install the catback this morning, since it doesnt seem like it would take too long)

instead the reasonator on the catback has a reducer (3" to 2.5") welded on..

so heres what im thinking now.

i have a tog shorty downpipe, i have 3 inch exhaust pipe here to weld up to it, which i would then reduce to fit the borla catabck, because i was going to retain the stock hanger positions. now i'm thinking that ill just weld the downpipe to the 3 inch pipe to the 3 to 2.5 reducer already on the catback...i'll lose the hangers temporarily, and ill lose the ability to drop the exhaust if i ever wanted to..

hers the shorty..shoud i just replace it? it looks kinda rough.

or should i go at this a different way? the shorty dp is pretty rough, maybe a should just buy a new bolt in tog dp from zzp, cut off the reducer, and keep all stock hanger and flange locations, just with new parts?

any suggestions/ideas would be great.

thanks in adavance!

hmmmm....Looks like you got some work ahead of you, I would just take it to a exhaust shop. Good luck!!

lol, between me and the guys helping me we can handle anything. swapped ehingne cradles with the engine held up witha cherry picker and on a lift, changed valvesprings witha leaky air compressor, replaced lower intake manifold gaskets, and all other sorts of fusn stuff. headers will be a walk in the park.

the only reservation I have about installing headers is if one of the bolts breaks in the head do you have the tools or experiance to get it out?

well the front bolts were no problem at all when i installed the powerlog, and since ill be spraying the rears with pb blaster while the motor is hot and letting the heat draw the blaster in, just like i did on the front previously, i dont forsee any problems...and yeah, ive removed snapped blots before too..so its not really a concern, lol.
