How old is that in tire years?

If you have a three or four thousand pound two door disc brake car, new or old...

What wheel diameter and width, and tire brand / model / size for all four corners...

Will still be available in 2021 and beyond?

Exact match, same manufacturer and part number, etc. Looking for educated speculations or "best bets".

They will continue to make tires in almost any size, because people love driving cars. That will not change as long as humans have adrenal glands.

Well those are certainly helpful answers. 15s are history, you have 3 choices tops. Help me out here, people. I think 16s are headed the same way, gonna be obsolete by then.

I run old tires too, 400SBC. Not really proud of it though. Looking to make a choice that I can replace when damaged.

I think 17's are a pretty safe bet. Small cars are still going to be a thing, and a lot of small cars can't handle 18's and up without modification. Honestly, I think you're safe. They're still making new factory parts for 1940's cars and trucks, lol.

Yes but its crap. I want decent stuff. I know I could run BFGs forever but those were never very good in my experience.

Which is more popular / common, 17s or 18s?

idk. lol I've still got 16's. I'm about to go JY spelunking for some nicer 17's though... Tires are definitely cheaper for 17's than for 16's though.

Well if so thats a clue.

If you walk through any given parking lot today and note tire sizes of every car, what would be the most common size combos found within the usable 16-18 range?

A tire changer guy probably has an answer off the top of his head.

Car or truck is the other question on popular sizes.

17's are 205/50, 205/55, 215/50, 215/55, 225/50, 225/60, 225/65, 235/50 then it goes up into more SUV sizes like 235/60/ 235/65 and 245/60's and up.

18's are similar as well. 225/40, 225/50 and 245/40, 245/45, 245/50 etc. Most trucks that run 18's are either 255/60 or 265/65/18's. All chevy trucks that run 18's are 265/65.

245/60-17 Hmm I'll have to compare some specs and availability. Wonder how those would look staggered with 235/50s.

You can look up any tire size in the world but there is zero way to find out how plentiful they are or if they are going to be discontinued. Tired of doing the dance, man. Just looking for something really common, a great seller with good quality that will be around awhile. Not looking to nail down brands or anything.

Cool. That might be my size. I'm hating most of the wheel choices I'm seeing for the FWD GTP though. Photo editing required. 35-38 mm seems common on 7-7.5" wheels. Time to start studying the tire and wheel threads for somebody who tried it. I'll use that size as a foundation to build a plan on for the GTP which may or may not ever actually happen. But I gotta do something sometime. Theres a set of 18" mustang rims with worn Pirellis on CL for $400 but they are silver. Gack. The GT is wheel-and-tire-poor but the stuff off the GTP would swap right on it if I find a deal I like.

Those 245/50s might make a good front size for the 69 also.

Do these suck for my black car? These are the size. Platinum Wraith.

Aw man. You gonna come up on my thread and pick that off without giving the whole tire thing a shot? Come ooon... I know you've got an opinion about something. How bout them Wraith wheels then?

if your wanting vintage tires for grape i would try cokertire.com have used tired from them before (1938 buick) and yeah they are like the old tires very fun drives if you like going with more white hair lol
