How much porting on heads??

I have a 2000 GP GT and I'm doing a top swap with a GEN 3, 42 injectors, HAI, headers, xp cam, Crow valve springs 105, LS7 lifters. I want to port my heads and I'm having them done by a professional, but I have no clue how much to actually port??? Any advice would be appreciated.

If he's a professional he should know how much...give him the xp cam specs for sure.

Just a smoothing of the gaskets, and polish the bowls.

That makes a very big difference as those are the problem areas. The casting on these engines is horrid

I dont think it made a big difference for me, but i was too scurred to polish the bowls, and im not a "professional".

I've noticed a lot of people like the gen v over a gen 3 but I picked up everything for the top swap for $300 shipped so I couldn't beat the deal. Everything checks out to be good also.

If you do that, might as well go to town. Ie, intercooler, N* TB etc.

Gen V requires a TB adapter, might as well go for one thats worth while.
