How much KR is too much?

Hey guys

I work at GM dealer and had the chance to take my car out with an OBD while getting coffees :D

Warmed my car up and put it in first gear with performance shift on. Went WOT and got about 4* of KR. I would assume 5* if i had let it go longer but there were cars in front.

I only have a FWI and TR5 plugs with resonator removed so i would have to say that's pretty good no? I have a front Plog and 3in downpipe with cat coming tomorrow so i'm thinking after that it will all clear up.

What do you guys think is to much? i know stock GTP's have KR but how much? thanks!

car is a 99 GTP

I'm part of the "any is too much" club, too. The stock tunes aren't great and do tend to have KR. The DP and front powerlog will definitely help, and a good tune would probably eliminate it.

My 2008 grand prix gxp had 10* of kr all stock, after I turned off the dod/afr it had 4*. I think when you are all stock or pretty close is not as bad, but none is the best case scenario

Thanks guys, already with the mods i have the car runs great, after this dp and plog i'm wondering if i should get a tune....I've had my eye on the ZZP PCM 1.0 for a LONG time and am almost ready to pull the trigger but i've heard some bad things about them, i've heard the other PCMS are better but i've found them to be hard to get. What do you guys think of the ZZP PCM for someone who is just doing general driving? all i'm looking for is a better running car and a little bit more hp. Not dragging or anything. And Yea the DP and plog are gonna be good! Installing them on rusted bolts isn't going to be fun....

okay, so what do you recommend? I don't believe i have anybody in my area that can tune my car for me ( i can't that's for sure) If you had to choose. What tune would you recommend?

I just want a tune that is better than stock. I don't care about a super aggressive tune, i just want something that is better than stock.

overkill is up north of the boarder. he might actually listen and apply your mods or lack of mods to the tune. some times stock timing is best unless you got more flow mods.

Thanks, they look good. They look like a good tuning company. and for the price it isn't bad, Hopefully i'll be putting an overkill PCM in mine soon.

web pages can be far from reality, its a side gig for him. all the same, ive not really heard of anyone who was not happy with his work. once it gets to you lol your not crossing a boarder, so it should ship faster to you.

Yea i think he's the one i'm gonna go with, How does the car act and feel with a tune like that in it? is idle and start up changed?

you wont notice the idle. its when you get on it, it will come alive, the trans tune and removal of torque management is what you mostly feeling.

that skip shift is awful nice too.
