how much horsepower will the zzp high velocity throttle body support. I'm trying to decide if I can keep it or upgrade to the N*. I'm going to be using it with my Fwi, Gen V, 1.9 roller rockers, SD headers mated to the stock cat back. in the distant future im planning on porting my heads and installing an intercooler.

I think at best im estimating 300 whp after the build is done. and I already have the high velocity throttle body. so im trying to decide if the tb will support 300 whp or if I have to run the N*.
 


i dont think you will get 300whp out of that. add a ic and a cam then you will be at 300 if not a little more

It'll be fine for what you're doing.
But your setup will be lucky to see ~240whp with the proper pulley and tune.
 
Guy i know makes 280whp rockered non ic. Knew another guy.made 286whp and even a few guys make 250ish whp on stock valvetrain all on gen v, just sayin.
 


Stock throttle bodies are probably good for unlimited power. Maf is a completely different game all together.. if you outflow a stock maf you can upgrade to a LT1/LS1 maf.
 


is there an article about upgrading to a different Maf. i've heard the maf is the weak link a few times but I haven't been able to find any info on changing it out. I know at a minimum you have to update the maf tables for the pcm but thats all i've been able to find. chances are i'm overcomplicating it.
 
Check vacuum at the vacuum tree during wot. Measure in inches of H2O. Probably worthwhile to check the rest of your intake.

Drops of around 1-3 " are fine, anything around 10-20" should be "upgraded". What sort of actual gains will you see? Not much. Better off buying an intercooler or a cam.

If you had an intercooler you might be closer to 300 WHP, but without one, you'll fall very short of that goal.
 
Quick question, since im upgrading to a Gen5 in a few weeks would it just be more beneficial to just upgrade to the N* and LQ4 MAF opposed to keeping my 72mm velocity TB on my Gen5? Beings though the Gen5 inlet is 75mm and the N* is 75mm they're more of a match from the get go and there won't be air restriction or problems with air flow. I have pretty much the same question the thread starter has, and I think knowing which is more beneficial would help us most
 


Ported heads and a Camshaft would get you much more power with the N*, the N* would be much more efficient with the airflow. I knew this much, I was hoping someone had dyno/horsepower numbers to show the real gain between the two. If you port your blower inlet to 75mm then I would go with the N*
