• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

how many gallons are our tanks?

the lowest I have gone is to the point of the car shutting off when I came to a stop at a light, luckily was able to restart and make it to the gas station across the intersection, this was in my old old car (1990 Buick LeSabre)

1997 has an 18 gallon.

98-03 is 17.5.

check your owners manual's.

That link I posted has three gas tanks for a 2000 grand prix listed as holding 18 gallons
I guess I could check the manual to make sure but I just don't see how that site could claim a tank holds more than it actually does

My gauge is broken so I have to calculate it every time. I filled mine up last week when the gas light was on and put in 14 gallons (didn't quite fill it but whatever) I only went 192 miles before the gas light came back on :th_scratchhead: Sucks for me, wasn't even romping on it...Clean air filter, less than 5k on the plugs and wires, fuel filter is less than a year old.

same story for me bro. fresh tune up, new tires+good pressure, not even a year old fuel filter, freshly cleaned K&N, still can only manage maybe 230miles max out of a tank. when on E and light turns on, can only put in about 11.5gal. what is going on with this crappy car?

The sender is failing....

Delphi makes **** product.

Havent you guys figured this out yet?

It seems every second fuel pump we install at my work is DOA.... Delphi too.

i had a feeling it was that. maybe mine is in need of adjustment? i dont have the 90 bucks to yank it out and replace. i guess it couldnt hurt though...probably replace the prefilter as well...

when you guys are saying when the light comes on are you referring to the low fuel light by the speedometer, or on the dash that shows you the miles till empty and your oil life % ect? i always gas up when the miles till empty says low, curious if i could still push it when the actual gas light comes on and for how many more miles?

I believe when the light in the DIC reads low you have around 8 gallons left and when the actual low fuel light comes on you have around 5 gallons left.

It's amazing how many pages such a simple topic gets.
I don't know about earlier models, but I'm 99% sure that the 04+ shows low fuel warning when it detects only 3 gallons left.
97 and 98 have 18 gallons. 99+ have 17.

My DIC "Low" warning pops on when it's right above the orange. And it always gets me in trouble because it dings and then if I'm with the parentals I just get yelled out cus they "just put gas in it."
Yet the Low Fuel in the dash doesn't come on till later. And even when it does it only holds 13, 14 gallons and the 99 tank is what, 17.5 gallons? So jank...
