How great is the new 2012 Impala LTZ?

Hey guys i have not been on for a while now since selling our GP but ive been looking at the new Impala LTZ with a 3.6l V6 with 300HP. I wanted to know how great is that car, hows good is the Performance, MPG, safety, etc. I Asked in a differ thread how great the Grand prix is now i want to know is this new impala better, also does it still share the same platform as the Grand prixs or are the a whole other platform now? How great is it and its seems to be faster on paper than a GTP and its a N/A, and so how good would mods do (CAI, Exhaust, Headers)? So really would this Impala be better than the GTP grand prix and/or be equal to the GXP, im pretty sure the transmission would be better wouldn't it?

So ya would the impala be better then the Grand prix and if not the 2012 ones would what about the 07+ SS? Would the SS be better and the trany be better too? Thanks

Yeah can't compare to a newer GXP, but I can compare to the new fuzion, when work gets me a rental I definatly choose a new Fuzion over the new Impala, and it's not even close it reminds me of driving my grampa's old 80's delta 88. It is kind of spunky to drive but for some reason you don't feel it at all.

Better than a GTP? Not really. Faster than a GXP? Probably not. As far as the transmission being better, 6 speeds aren't for going fast, that's why its rated 30mpgs. Unmodded vs unmodded, the trans probably has the same longevity of a 4T65e.

Where's the Turbo?

The biggest problem is the timing chain.

Keep fresh high quality oil in it.

People are already doing retarded things like letting their oil sludge before having it changed.

Saw a traverse in the shop with stretch timing chain code, 1-2-3-4 gear codes, 1-2-4-5 gear solenoid codes and evap leak code. Wont shift into any gear. Quite the fail at 60 k miles and three years old. And thats not the first one to roll into the shop doing this.

Better than 3800?

Technological advancements...sure. Better MPG's, better performance for the most part, but stupid crap like...

Timing chain issues...still fail wheel drive like Brian said...and even though the new 6spd seems to be working fine, how long IS it going to last past 100k is the question...price it out.

Also, good luck on modding...

Manifolds are built into the cylinder head...woooopeeeeee.

those heads are specifically setup to take a twin turbo setup. Its been discussed on a few forums on the net. Its very possible seeing as how they expect 52mpg vehicles by 2025

Yeaaaa boiii^^

And Dave: With .4 liters, right?

Yay, billion RPM...no TQ motors.

It's gonna be super cool.

Stupid safety features in a car pack on 1000 lbs easy these days. I say get rid of it all and get rid of ethanol in gas. Solves all the problems!

LNF > Saab.

Love me Coblat hater.

The Ecotec is gonna power the C8 'Vette. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee: GM LOGIC.
