how do you scan for KR using torque pro ?



yeah all the other sensors seem to be normal and everything updates within 1 second. but i havent seen the KR sensor move once
 
When I run the separate add on that tells you how many times it knocked I get zero. When I'm actually looking at the kr gauge in torque it seems every time I'm going up a hill, passing etc I will see 2-4* kr. Don't know how that's possible as my car is bone stock other than 605s, 180 stat and a come filter on the end of the maf. And I'm running 93..
 
From what I understand stock cars knock..... Dunno why, but they do.

I have a fresh rebuild, mods in my sig, with an Intense custom "canned" tune and I scan with an Aeroforce. I have 0KR. I drive my car normal daily, I do plenty of WOT pulls, and the car has seen the strip multiple times. I, like you, thought it was not working. One day coming up the mountain before I got my 5v reference figured out, the car hiccuped triggering the SES light. When the light triggered I saw a blip of KR for a split second (due to computer kicking into limp mode under load) then nothing so i know it works. You proably don't have any KR.
 


I get flash KR before the shift during WOT and all I have is a Overkill PCM. Have someone tap the oil pan with a hammer while you monitor the Torque App. If you still don't have KR readings, then check the wires to the Knock sensor. I had to fix the wiring on my rear knock sensor.
 
well when i was putting in my motor after it was rebuilt i forgot to plug in the sensor but i finally got it after about 20 minutes and i know the front one is on. what will knocking on the oil pan do ?

i want to say i dont but thats hard to belive. vs cam flipped mountts 90# springs with 605's and stock exhaust... cant be right unless i found the perfect setup for no kr lol
 
Thanks for the heads up guys. I'll look into it a little more once my overkill PCM is in.

Also is there any difference between running a cone filter off the maf on the 04+ vs paying $200-300 for an intake that to me seems like the same thing?

By smacking the motor, you make a noise/tone that the KR sensor will pick up as knock and retard the timing, so when its hit with something and senses that it will show on the gauge if the sensor is reading or not.

And 1 second is a long time compared to how quicky a aeroforce or a tuning program gets data.

So its hard to say if you have kr or don't have kr.

I'm betting it's all in the cam!!! If you had a stock cam you'd probably be knocking. You've added almost .1 more lift, breathing a lot better. Hell I wish our motors came from the factory with larger cams, but GM didn't want them pumping out more HP then the Z28's and Corvettes.. :D
 
I have a torque pro, did you customize it with a PID to get to the KR reading?
I was looking at mine last night and did not see it, of course being a guy, it may have been in plain sight and I just missed it.
 


yeah i did i have the KR sensor and the KR counter and both of them mover 1 bit. also i replaced both of my knock sensors on the block
 
ok so i just tested my kr gauge by hitting the oil pan with a mallet and the gauge didn't move one but stayed at 0.0 and then over the past couple of days i keep getting random readings like 0.2 ,0.5 and 0.7, does anyone know what could be wrong ? like i said i replaced both knock sensors and they are both plugged in. could i possibly tap the sensor itself to see if it will change ?
 
your car is fine.. 0kr all the time is not hard to achieve even on accident.

As far as hitting the motor with a hammer goes... it will not work unless you are driving down the road and you can hit it at the perfect time, alot of times in a row.

I have to agree with the second part of this.. I was NOT able to get my car to knock just by hitting the motor/oil pan/headers/crossover with ANYTHING.. Even tried doing it with the Car in Drive.. Nothing...
