How do you replace the coolant elbows?

The elbow by the water pump was cracked and leaking a decent amount. So I went and bought some new elbows (Dorman #47065) I removed the damaged one but I can't figure out how to put the new one or which one I should be using. Neither one is an exactly the same as my old one.

I have my alternator off but I can't figure out how to get the tensioner off and I already snap a sensor trying to get it on. Please help :th_laugh-lol2:

there are three bolts on the tensioner, two that are easy to spot, and one thats on the back side of it. All three go into the head, are the same length and have 15 MM heads.

Take those off then it'll come right off.

Ok I'll check that out tomorrow, Any ideas on what kind of censor I broke? It's right above the elbow and is T shaped. I'm thinking it's some kind of temperature censor.

That not a sensor, thats a vacuum T. Just go to your local auto parts store and get a T with some reducers and vacuum line, should be good to go then.

ok I've spent almost a hour looking for the three 15mm bolts and didn't have any luck finding them. Could you post a pic please?

... Its a GT with a GTP top half of the engine.

Thats what the 99+ tensioner bracket looks like. What year is your car?

then it'll have the exact same bracket on it.

This is right underneath the alternator.

Right near the power steering reservoir.

ok turns out that the power steering bolt was the one I was missing. Damn that was easy, now I just have to fix the vacuum line. Any tips for that?

whats broken?

I'd suggest just replacing the lines alltogether at this point.

Easiest way is to take the old stuff into the parts store and find something the same inner diameter. You might need a new plastic T as well, just get a universal one from the self help section.

^^wow... there was actually something useful on that site... never knew

Is that gasket crap necessary? I just dipped mine into antifreeze to lube'em up?
