How do I replace Trac Off bulb?

Actually I think Ill just swap out my Low Trac for my Trac Off light. Who really needs the low trac light lol? Its kind of obvious when your tires are spinning..

I eventually worked the bulb out of the blue base, but now Im left with two small wires coming out of the blue base. They make it to just about the top. Are they supposed to be there? Can i reuse this base? Or can i just buy a new one at autozone?

Okay so I went and bought bulbs anyways and replaced it and the light works.
But it doesn't ****ing work accurately. -.-
it just says off all the time even though I can still switch it on and off.

The bulb is probably in backwards.
*Edit* you didn't go with LED's, so that won't matter. Is your ABS light on as well?

Yeah the abs light is out so I assume they're both on. It might be my passenger hub as the wheel has some play. Is this possible?

shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
uhhh i guess ill hae to do those some time but im okay with that,

"it just says off all the time even though I can still switch it on and off."

"Yeah the abs light is out so I assume they're both on"

This is confusing. What you are saying is the the TRAC OFF light is lit up all the time, yet your ABS light on the dash is not on?? Maybe I'm not following....

I've never been able to turn my trac control off and on using the button when the light is on all the time and there is an ABS light on constantly on the dash. When the ABS light is on Trac control is disabled and button won't do anything. I drove my 00 GT around like this for over 6 months and trac control was always off and pressing the button could not change that.

IF you have an ABS light on then get that hub changed and I'd bet that the trac control button will work as designed. And yes, Timkin hubs FTW. Check out RockAuto for them, seems to be a good place to get them. If you need one in a hurry then I think Autozone carries Timkin hubs but the price is higher.

Depending on how much play is in that hub it may not even be that, it could be the wiring or the connector to the hub. My front pass. side wire harness was rotted out about 7 inches back from the connector causing my ABS light. Took a while and a voltmeter to find that one.

It's not on but it doesnt work at all so i assume it burnt out from being all the time. I assume the hubs needed to be changed at like 80k miles or something and they never did it so the bulbs burnt out. I still have abs and traction control and the button turns it on and off but the light stays on.

Ill check the connectors too, but there is some play im pretty sure.
Is there a video anywhere of someone checking a hub or something to compare to?

Possibly, never really needed a video. Just jack the car up until the front wheels clear the ground, grab the tire at 12 and 6 and try to wiggle it top to bottom. If you have play it will show up here. If no play, then look elsewhere for ABS/trac control issues. The only other way it can cause issues is if the wire that leads from the hub to the harness gets broken internally on the hub, then you have no choice but to change the entire hub as it is all 1 piece.

It would be a good idea to clean the connectors out and add a little dielectric grease to them to keep the corrosion down. If you get in a bind let me know and I'll see if I can help.

FYI, when you go to change the hub, make sure you have a large enough socket to remove the old spindle to hub nut and install the new one. Often the replacement one is a different size. Somewhere around 34-36mm depending on manufacturer IIRC.

It has some play, like its not like the wheel is wobbling out of control but i can def see some play. I just dont know if its enough to count as needing to replace the hub.
But ill check the connections and what not more today when i go back to the shop, thanks.

Oh yeah okay i researched a bit more and its definitely needing replacing. how important is replacing a wheel hub? I rarely drive on the highway also. Max speeds are usually 50 and under.

Only on gpf can there be a thread about changing a bulb that is two pages long........so far. Lmfao!!!
Lmfao so true.

And i cant just change it i dont have the money atm, but i was saving for tint. So if i could just get tint and wait a bit to replace the hub id be more happy.
