? How do i program a new key fob?

I got a new key fob from the dealer and they wanted a $100 to program it. Ive found stuff on the web but it didnt work, or im doing it wrong.

pull the MALL programm fuse

close all doors

insert key, turn to ACC then OFF then back to ACC within 1 sec.

open and close a door, a chime should be heard

press and hold the the LOCK and UNLOCK bottuns for 14 seconds.

remove key from ignition

re-install MALL fuse and your done.

what happens if you have a a/m radio and you cant hear chimes how do you know then?

More detailed, so try it again


Remove key from from ignition

remove the BCM PROGRAM, from the glove box fuse box, if no BCM fuse is found remove the MALL PROGRAM fuse

close all doors

close the lift gate

insert key into ignition, and turn it to the ACC ( one click towards you in the car)
leave key in for 5 then do next step

turn key to off and back to acc with in one second

open a door and close it, A chime SHOULD be heard when the system enters program mode

press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK for 14 seconds, after seconds a chime may be heard that will confirm program

remove key

install FUSE

save the trouble and take it to the dealer, as long as they dont charge an arm and a leg its easier

No this process will not work on 2004 and up Grand Prix. That will require a Tech 2 or other scanner to pair the key fob. I did have a Dorman part that would perform this task along with the key fob. I may as well sell the part as it can do 4 programming sessions and I have a virtual Tech 2 now.
