Hot Rod Power Tour 2010

Sometimes they stop out of the schedule tho. Dayton OH wasnt listed on their last year i dont think. The only way i had heard about it was because the news said they were going to come here for the first time ever an said it like 2 days before they came. I wouldn be suprised if they made a few unexpected stops somewhere again thats not on that shecdule.

we need to get some bronzemist gps there

I got one but :th_biggrin2:, we will probably take my husbands car as it has more "goodies" than mine. LoL

If you guys and gals are serious about going you really need to start looking into getting rooms reserved in the cities you plan on attending as this is a HUGE event and rooms sell out QUICK. If you are looking to save money then roommates are suggested!! Even if you dont plan to do the long haul that is the best thing to register for as it gets you into all the stops you plan on attending, gets you a couple of windshield stickers that say "power tour 2010" , meal tickets at various stops, a crap ton of free stuff and a card that you take around to vendors to get more free stuff. :p

This is the year to go and have a HUGE showing for Pontiac since they are not making them any more.

As for wishing they were a little more south sometime. They were in Little Rock, and Springfield before heading to Topeka in 2008. They are ending in Alabama this year so maybe a south route next year?

Don't know if I will be making it this year...buying the new place is more important :D

But if I do...expect the blue car to make the long haul...I've decided...go big or nothing ;)

A. STFU with all the thread crapping in here.

B. A lot of the tour isn't on major 4 lane hwys, so going ridiculously fast isn't usually an option. When you do hit 4 lane open road, there are groups of cars doing every speed under the sun. Some slow, some at the speed limit, some balls out. I fell into a fast group in '08 and we passed a KS HP in the median at 135. He shook his finger at us, that's all. Personally though, I'd rather do the speed limit and just enjoy the drive.

C. This is the single most fun event I have ever done in all my years of owning classic cars and now my GTP. I did a very small bit of one of the Power Tours several years ago in a '73 Mustang Vert I used to own and show. We did the first three stops of the Power Tour '08 in the GTP and we plan to take the GTP again this year.

D. Do as my wife suggested above. Even if you plan on doing only a couple stops or so, still register as a Long Hauler. It's worth every penny with all the freebies that will get you.

E. Pics from the Hot Rod Power Tour '08. I separated them into different parts of the tour, so start at the navigation links on the left of "In This Album" on the page this link opens and enjoy!

What did it cost for the long hauler package? I tried to look it up but the links were leading me in a circle.

Well I have spent the weekend getting hotels picked out for the stops that we are going to this year. We are going to stop in Tennesee and do some sight seeing........ Its a 130ish days away!!

rynoman, where did you get the picture of the little red express? i swear i've seen that at my bank in troy lol.

i'm hoping to go to one of the stops in indiana or kentucky, any advice for going for the first time?

It don't look like i'm making the Power Tour this year. Hope to make a big KC event though, especially if there no Branson.

well for the mo/ks peeps I think we are going to leave EARLY Saturday morning and head for Newton and drive straight to the event.

As for the pic of the lil red express there are many of those trucks, we have two here in the town where I live.

I did the long hall in 08 and I will be doing this one also. :th_winking: Last time I saw a few of the GP's but did not meet anyone on the tour. I think it would be great if the long hallers could all be together. I will post my cell when it's closer to the time to leave so if anyone wants to get together on the Tour we can have a (convoy) mabe some one can bring a rubber duck :th_laugh-pointup: For the people who have never done a HPT it's a blast at night around the hotels as some people go crazy with burnouts however I did see some green stamps being given out by the local PD. And turning on my strobes did clear a few cars out :th_lipssealed2:
