Hot Air Question:)

Hi Guys, I am a new 05 Grand Prix GTP owner and I have been having a problem with the heat. When I bought the car from a dealer last week it just had its water pump replaced. Leaving the dealer we realized that it was not blowing hot air even up to 85-90 on digital reading. They "burped" the car and eventually that helped a bit. Now, 5 days later, still no hot air, even while blasting at 90 for a 30 minute drive. Brought it to Auto Part store to ask about thermostat and if they knew this issue. Thermostat was okay, but they think it is air still in the lines that will hopefully run itself through. They also mentioned that when they fixed the pump that something might have leaked into or air got into the heater core. Anyone have this problem or does this sound right? Live in Chicago and not liking the cold ass car:) Thanks!

when the cars warmed up, touch the 2 hose that come off the engine, if they are both hot, you have a bend door issue maybe.

if they are both cold or one is cold. take the 2 hoses off the engine, behind the alternator, then flush one of the hoses with a garden hose, re install the hoses, you should get heat.

Why did they replace the water pump? Overheating? Did they test the head gasket? Did they use the bleeder made for getting air out of the system?

what kinda mechanics they got working there? I know if I did a water pump and didn't make sure everything was working perfectly, crap would hit the fan. sounds shady...

howd they test the t-stat at the parts store? Previous owner could have wanted a racekar and put a colder t-stat in it?

Thanks for the responses. I touched the two hoses and the top one is hot and the bottom is still cold. I will probably have to flush that one out like you said. As for the water pump, the dealer I bought it from changed the water pump after I had a local mechanic look at. Not sure exact reason, just said it was bad. I think this is par for the course with dealers selling a older car "As Is." I got heat before I left, but no worried it was a quick fix to get me out of there. Not sure about how he figured out the thermostat. He touched the hose leading to it and said it was good. Thanks guys, I am a bit of novice when it comes to more than the basics with cars.
