• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hissing noise?

snug enough not to leak, follow those lines around the engine, something is off its loud, or spray some carb cleaner around the engine till you hear the idle jump when sprayed , then check that area for the vac leak source.

Seems like it may be the t before the one under the supercharger snout... It's pretty loose. I'll pick up some carb cleaner this week though and play with it... So long as it's not the supercharger hah

if u think its that t, then pull it off the lim and the black lines out of both sides VERY CAREFULLY and check for cracking...its just a rubber t....flex it a bit and u'll see cracks if any.

Welp I guess I'll get around to it tomorrow. Need to get back to Chicago from Milwaukee then buy some carb cleaner and go wild

sounds like a pulley to me... take off SC belt and see if it goes away. if it does, more than likely its a pulley that runs on SC belt.. im thiking idler pulley.

It seems like one of the pulleys is bad, making some odd noise, though...

now I have an issue where I hit about half boost (4 legos) and the car will start shaking. So I guess I have to check the vacuum and plugs now...

Doesn't happen when I'm going slower than 50-55MPH it seems... I soaked the vac lines in carb cleaner and no increase in idle and no obvious leaks.

Spark plugs maybe? Something like that?

Plugs fixed the rumbling at 4 legos of boost. Did Autolite plugs and wires... $85 later it's running nicely. :D

Just have to fix that hissing still... sure it's probably a pulley. Will replace that this weekend.

Be careful, I saw a video on Youtube the otherday... Woman complained that there was a hissing sound comming from her engine... it was a 6ft snake :th_nanana:

Your prolly right, its prolly a pulley, don't put it off tho! Check it NOW!!! If the pulleys bearings going out, and if it locks up the plastic will just melt itself off when the tq from the engine keeps rotating it and you will most likely lose your belt with it. I was fortunate when it happened to me, it tossed the belt onto the supercharger and there it stayed, most people lose the pulley and the belt tho

just fyi

Do you think it's probably those tensioner pulleys? Those are the only ones that seem to have the bearings in them.

Was going to replace them this weekend.

Thanks!

The one I spun off was #9, just a regular Idler pulley for the supercharger. I didn't even notice until I went to get on the Hwy and had no power, no boost :P I pulled over and the supercharger belt was just sitting on the supercharger and there was a shiny little shaft with the shiny metal bearing on it, no black pulley anywhere... just melted it off at the base. Never found the pulley either :P They all have bearings so best would be to pull both belts, check the play on the SC for coupler and spin all the pulleys for rough spots

I was going to get metal pulleys, seems like plastic is kind of ****e. Especially with how much heat is there anyway.

Smooth flow?
