Hippo's Car - Install List Added Pg.23

Re: Hippo Machine's First Car - 1998 Grand Prix GT

Going out of town for a few days, leaving the GP behind. Coming home to my new headlight assemblies will be nice. Installing those and "PONTIAC" inlays next week along with new fuel filter (if possible to remove at all :th_laugh-lol2:), and spark plugs, AND WIRES, AND PAINTING THE CROSS BARS (should I do rusty dog bones or whatever as wellll?) and gonna order some new stuff da week after.

What do you guys think of spray painting the grille satin silvery color? JW. Thanks.

Re: Hippo Machine's First Car - 1998 Grand Prix GT

Grilles...negative...that looks ricey.

Tips though...be sure to clean the rear valance with alcohol before installing the rear inlay...you don't want any dirt lying in there to hinder the adhesives of it. Another thing is...be sure not to wash the car where the decal is for a day or so...that way it has time to cure.

When you change the spark plugs...there are 4 misc. brackets you can remove that makes your life tons easier...get those out of the way before getting started. 2 engine pull brackets (each are held on by 13mm nuts IIRC), the engine cover bracket...which at that time get rid of the cover too...because that just holds in heat.

If your going to paint stuff be sure to prep it...and if your doing the dog bones as well, while your there you might as well flip the mounts...and if you don't know what that is...click the link in my signature for more infoz bruh.

I would leave the grills black, just order the mess streetscenes style that really stand out on red cars.

Auto Parts Stores Metallic Silver Base Coat with a Anodized Red Top Coat, 3 layers each, and 3 layers of clear and this is what you get... just food for thought

Wtf thats the color I'm getting all my crap powder coated in! Aww I guess it will still be original with a polished trans cover lol

Re: Hippo Machine's First Car - 1998 Grand Prix GT

oh yea go get a spark plug boot puller it will make life easyer because the first time you take the stock ones off after all those miles they like to fight you

Re: Hippo Machine's First Car - 1998 Grand Prix GT

I use vice grips to remove factory plugs...get it really tight on the front of the boot by the plug...then push it against the valve cover.

Easy peasy.

Re: Hippo Machine's First Car - 1998 Grand Prix GT

I read something on the first page on about pregens, but I don't see them? All I see is stock ABS wheels.
Also take the door badges off too. I have a GTP and did that, it's just so much cleaner.
