Agree. Hippo, since you've already run the RCA's, leave them be and run the power line down the passenger side. Dont button everything up yet. Connect everything and start the car and give it some revs . If you're getting noise in the speakers, reroute the RCA's to the other side or get better RCA's.
 
After 3 days of gruelling work, I finally have the amp in!


But I'm getting a high pitched tone at all volumes, even when all the way down, it doesn't change with rpm's or volume. HELP!!!


Otherwise it sounds good from what I heard. My ears are ringing like hell so i can't tell how it sounds at lower volumes. Definitely need my sub in soon for more bass, which it is really lacking now that I hear my stuff with an amp.
 


Where's the best place to ground it in our trunks? Also could the fact that the ground wire is 3 feet be contributing to the buzz?

I doubt it, but a proper ground is extremely important so it is possible. The length is not the real issue, its the founding point itself, you have to make sure you have a solid connection between the metal of the car and the grounding wire. If your pretty sure your ground is good, I would test and see if its your head unit by unplugging your RCA's and use and iPod to play some tunes.
 


you can use any one of those bolts, which ever works the best for the placement of your ground wire. just make sure to sand down the area to the metal



edit- they r found under the seat cushion at the back seat
 
that or the strut tower bolts, but thats messy looking they're a pain to get off. i used the seatbelt bolt as well. again, clean, sanded, and make sure that mofo is FLAT against it
 
I finally got the high pitched noise fixed after doing some troubleshooting..

Grounding the RCA's didn't do anything, grounding the amp better didn't do anything, and turning the gain down didn't do anything. Switched the RCA's with the other pair I had wired for the sub when it goes in, and the noise went away. Must just be a bad pair of RCA cables..

I also tuned the amp more precisely after that.


I complained about the noise to the site (also the decrease in bass over just my headunit) that I bought the amp from and they told me I must have a defective unit. I was thinking about exchanging it for this Hifonics amplifier if they allow me: Hifonics GLX100.4 400W RMS, Class A/B 4-Channel Gladiator Series Amp It is CEA2006 compliant unlike the one I have, and has a higher RMS rating for bridged which I would do for the sub. What do you think?
