High Oil Pressure

97gtp with 82k miles on it. Just did an oil change last week and put maybe 400 miles on it.

I accelerated quickly to cross an intersection and got on the highway. Once on the highway I was cruising for about 5 mins when I realized my Oil pressure is 138 psi. I end up dropping my sister off at the airport and headed back to my place. Upon shutting it off I could see the oil pressure drop on the gauge. I restarted it again and the pressure varies between 129-140 psi. Normally I sit around 45-70 psi while driving.

Oil Pressure is monitored with corvette sensor and is hooked up to my aeroforce gauge. I just changed the oil last week which has at most 400 miles on it and used Mobil Extended Performance Full synthetic with a Mobil oil filter. Hopefully I didn't spin a bearing, but the engine is smooth and still accelerated fine so I'm thinking maybe oil relief is stuck

Any ideas, maybe I'll use my manual oil pressure gauge tomorrow and hook it up.

I would double check the gauge first.........if it is accurate, you definately have an obstruction I would think..........I hope it is the gauge. check the oil filter if that is not it and cut it open and see if anything abnormal is in there...........

Definitely take a couple minutes and spin on a new filter to see if that is the obstruction. Since you just changed the oil, it seems highly likely that filter is blocked somehow.

when the sensors go bad they show a high pressure reading. oil pressure sensor is probebly bad if the new filter doesnt take care of it.
