HIDs killed my stereo?

I have a 2008 pontiac grand prix

ok long story so ill try to give the short version

I installed 9006 55w 8000k HID with ballast both low beams
with the lights worked great they wouldn't turn on with the light switch set to auto but just switched to on and they worked fine.

fast forward a week me and my wife drove about half hour playing music i have a jvc-avx810 two amps a 700watt for my 10" sub and 400 watts for my highs and lows

while parking and turning the engine off i see "charging system failure" followed by "service engine soon" on the DIC

I quickly blame the lights and swap them out when we get home. .. but the error codes didn't go away.

Next day, while driving home from work with music playing and ALL the gauges flat line and the DIC says low fuel I pull over and turn off the car. wouldn't start.. try again after almost calling tow service and it turns over. I drive home.

Next day i go to Autozone and have them check the alternator and battery its fine 14.4 volts but the alternator failed once then passed idk how reliable their tester is but i decided since the car is still under warranty I took it to the dealer.

This morning dropped the car off this is what they said was wrong "Data communication feed causing all of the warning messages. backed out terminal from JX205 splice and radio is now out of line. Radio should still work but could not verify with out face plate".

I took off the screen while it was in the shop. When i put the screen back on the dvd play would not turn on BUT it has aux power as it allows me to eject disc and detach the screen

Where the hell is this JX205 connector?

I goggled it and find nothing on it. I thought they had gone into my dash cause they charged me $165.00 to just unplug a connector.... nothing was changed checked my fuses all looks good tho i didn't pull ALL of them ran out of day light.

as of right now I bought another GMOS-01 and that didn't fix the problem. where ever the connector is I never touched it to install the stereo

the battery nor the alt should read 14.4 volts, thats to high, battery with the car off, not running should read 12-13 volts max, whit the car running it could be as high as 13.8 but nothing over 14.

get a battery tester that hooks up to the battery, check it with the car off, then start it and re read it.

i bought 2 bad rebuilt alternators in a row for the same car, both were over charging the system, all it was designed for was 12 volts, and the car was acting up, warning lights that said charging system failure

and the auto zone alt test sucks a big dic, it passed 2 bad alternators for me at 2 different stores.

After reading your piece I just want to clarify something for the guy. When you say battery tester do you mean an actual battery test her that can detect bad cells or are you talking about a multimeter than can read resistance, volts and that stuff?

it was just a battery/alt tester from auto zone not sure if it was over 14 volts that's what he said. but the battery is good no starting issues

no not the cells, but most are sealed these days so cant test the bat cells.

the old load tester that you clamp onto the battery will tell you the volts, your cars not going to like running over 14 volts. multimeter works too

First off, are you using a relay harness with your HIDs? If not you probably should think about using one. Second, I have had this same issue with all my gauges flat-lining and getting the charging system failure warning, amongst a couple others. It was caused by a connection coming loose and making contact with the common grounding plate in the fusebox, shorting out the whole system. I urge you to check any wiring you may have done yourself to ensure its integrity, including the stereo and HIDs.

I'm in on getting a relay on the lights.

Radio out of line, sounds like it's unhooked from the ignition circuit. Which explains why it ejects yet won't power up.

Thanks for the replys got a couple of questions where is the ignition circut and how hard is it to hook up a relay for my hids?
