• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

HID's in reflector housings

You guys aren't blinded by SUV's with factor HID's when their cutoff momentarily flashes right into your eyes?

They're called not perfect roads, and hills.

Get some.

The primary reason not to stick HIDs in factory housings is because you'll have no high beams.

And if you never leave the city, sure, whatever. But if you ever leave it, you'll be as blind as a bat and stuck doing 40 mph everywhere.

What if you get both Hi and Low HID? Like I'm trying to do :/

They work properly?

Hell most bulbs place the filament around 1.65-1.70" from the base.

Its supposed to be 1.75".

If they can guarantee you that they meet that spec, there might be hope yet.

If you buy a nice HID kit (TRS), you're over halfway to a retro kit.

Depends how much you care.

Cheapo kit for now since I can't see tits with my damn blackhoused headlights and then retro in the spring time.

Maybe my glasses gave me super vision.

Because I can see pretty damn far and I drive in the sticks all the time, not under the ocean like some of these 10k HID guys.

I'm glad they're illegal at least over there. You can't ignore them when you have a pick up truck with HIDs behind you on a stop light filling all three mirrors. When I'm driving and get one of these idiots behind me I just turn on my hazard lights and slow down until I stop no matter where I am (left or right lane) and wait for them to go around me. I start going again as soon as they pass me, that should be some what annoying to them too.

I have projectors on the T/A with 8000k HIDs I obviously don't get flashed. You can manage to drive with one or two guys with HIDs in reflector housings around you, but what will happen when everybody around you gets HIDs with no projectors?

You have seen the roads I drive on.... I NEVER use my highs.... Lows are bright enough...

I have 6ks in my heads and fogs and im not going back to halogens, ive tried, cant see anything! So what if i piss a cpl ppl off every now. Then. Im not blindjng ppl to the point where their driving is disturbed. I love when they get behind me and purposely put their brights on in an act of revenge...tinted windows and auto dim rearview mirrors keeps me laughing!!!!! Lol

The police could pull you over for unnecessarily bright lights.

I'm pretty sure they are illegal 100% in the US only when aftermarket. I think police don't do anything unless its seriouly bight or you have like the 10Ks

Its really not that funny, and you really don't know how much it disturbs them. Halogens work perfectly fine for me until I can afford HID's and projectors.

Ive been behind cops, facing them, and have asked them personally if it was a problem and they said as long as their not blue i was fine. So im gonna continue to be a "douche" until i do some retros. And i do know what its like to come head on with them while driving, ALOT of ppl around here have them. Just dont stare into them like a deer and youll be fine.

My STi came from the factory with HID low beams in a reflector housing as well. The reflectors are designed to properly reflect the arc of electricity, unlike reflectors made for halogen bulbs. It also is equipped with a dial inside that allows you to manually adjust the level of the lights up or down so that if you have dead bodies or anything else heavy in the trunk you can aim the lights down so you don't blind anyone.
