HID + Projectors

I am going to replace my headlights with HID and projectors and would like to have a little clarification. Judging by sight, it looks like the projector housings use two bulbs, one for hi and one for low. One looks projector and the other not. Which one is for low and which one is for hi? I assume HID's will work and they don't use 9007's for them both and the housing documentation will specify which ones. Please feel free to correct any misconceptions I have.

Post a link to which Projectors you are getting. Then we can tell you which bulbs are for hi and low beam.

Well there are two styles you should consider, the two good projectors available for the GP that is..

There are the spyder projectors which are the ones with two halos and the orange lights in the corner. Those take H1 bulbs for low beam and 9005 in the high beam.

The other ones with the three LED's on the inner corner take H3 for low beam, and H1 for high beam.

I have the ones with the three LED's. I like the light output, a lot better than the stock output. Spyders are supposed to have a crisper cut off line and a bit more out put. The ones I have put out plenty though.

Well when you flash HID's on and off and don't give them proper time to heat up, you shorten the life of the ballasts and bulbs. Plus I don't think any of the aftermarket projectors have good aiming for the high beams.. So No it's not worth it.

You'll see plenty with just low beam HID's.

I have hid's in my highs.. They work great.. Could never use them with traffic, I'd blind everyone.. And I never flash my highs, so it doesn't matter what people say about it being bad for them.
Spyder auto projectors, by the way.

Well, got my HID fog's installed. The difference is astounding!!!!! Now I can't wait to get my black Spyders in and get the matching headlights installed.

last I checked adding HID lights to a car that didnt come from the factory with them is illegal but maybe I didnt understand the rule correctly

ya its illegal...just aim them properly and you shouldn't have too much of a problem of blinding people. You don't have that problem much at all with projectors unless they're aimed terribly.
I myself have the black spyder autos. Lo beams are great...hi beams IMO suck terribly....I'm ordering HID HI's tomorrow probably as well as a relay harness for the low and hi beams.
The spyder auto lights are kind of hard to aim. It's annoying having to take the headlight off to aim, then reinstalling, remove, adjust etc. I would say it's worth it though with how much better the lighting is. Also don't over tighten the the 2 bolts that hold the light in, you'll break the plastic.
They're also kind of hard to get flush with the fender. My driver side one is practically perfect. The passenger side one....it needs to come out easily 1/4 of an inch. I just need to adjust that all
Overall the spyder lights are pretty good...i'd probably buy another set if I got another GP for some reason.

Like stated above they are illegal but I havn't heard of anyone that I know of getting pulled over for having them because I am not sure that cops know what cars came factory installed with them. From what I have gathered it is not illegal to have the HIDs if it came from the factory with those lights but it is illegal to install them as "aftermarket lights". I do know though that with the HIDs that I have in my car it makes my tint look way darker than what they really are (only got pulled over once)

Hey kinda thread jacking here... but do you need a harness for the fog hids like you do with the headlights?

I didn't get one. The flash bright and dim when I turn them on the brighten after a few seconds. I think the harness would take care of that behavior. I'll probably get one for my fogs when I do my headlights.
