i am considering installing HID headlights and fog lights, whats a good color to go with??? and where is a good location to mount the ballast?

any other tips or tricks for install??? new to HIDs, always used Halo Lights

The color depends on you. The higher you go color wise the brighter it gets, this will hinder your usable light though..

4300k is the best for visibility. As you go up it gets harder to see. I have 6000K 55w kit. They have a slight tint of blue. I had a 35w 5000K kit and it had a slight tint of yellow.. They both were mostly white though.

You can get a 35w kit which is normal or you can step up to the 55w kit. The 55w kit will put out a stronger beam, and more usable light. I suggest using a relay harness with whatever you decide to get.

A relay harness will take power from you battery as opposed to your stock harness. This will reduce the stress on the stock wires and eliminate the risk of burning them. The harness is only $10-$15 so it's really not a big deal to get one..

You can mount them wherever you want. I have mine unmounted just sitting where the headlight wires are. It's not a big deal.. as long as they're not just flopping around ya know haha

the guy i called said it was like a 6000K but didnt tell me how many watts....id probably go with the 55w kit, is it fairly easy to do?
 
It is basically all plug and play. When you get everything in front of you, you'll understand how it works.

The relay just needs a positive (your battery) and a negative (a ground). Then you just connect it to your HID kit. The HID kit will only need to plug in where your original bulbs used to plug in.

What do you mean by this? The light output gets brighter, which means more lumens when you go down the color scale. Example that 6000k isnt as bright as 4300K.
 


I mean that 10000K is brighter then 4300K... that being said..

You see more with 4300K than you would with 10000K. The lower it is, the more "usable" light you'll have.
 
the higher the k rating, the less light output, the bluer -more purple the light

the below is from: HID info. kelvin (color temp) vs. lumen (brightness output)

4300k D2S Philips = 3200lm (lumens)
4300k D2R Philips = 2800lm (lumens)
4300k D2S Philips = 2400lm (lumens) actually 5800k
4300k D2R Philips = 2000lm (lumens) actually 5800k
4800k D4S/R (brand) = 3800 (lumens) ** brightest in the market
5800k D4S/R (brand) = 3300 (lumens)
7000k D2S other = 1790lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)
7000k D2R other = 1390lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)
8000k D2S other = 1180lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)
8000k D2R other = 780lm (lumens) *(other bulb brand)

i actually purchased the siler eagle (MAde by beamers) HID headlights and fog lights kit... have you done the fog lights yet?
 
I got my first HID kit from Xentek. Don't get these kits, they are garbage.

I got my second from VVME. I love this kit, amazing.

And my third was from DDM Tuning. This kit is cheaper than the VVME but is still of good quality.
 


No no no, wrong kit completely.

You have the spyder projectors. Your low beam bulb is an H1 bulb. You want an HID kit for the low beam.

The difference between the watts are that a 55w will produce a stronger beam, therefore more usable light. 35w is plenty though so don't think it won't light up the road. .

Slim ballast also lasts longer than a standard ballast. I would recommend a relay harness with either kit you purchase. Some say you don't need a relay for the 35w kits. I'd get some just to be safe. You will definitely need a relay harness if you opt for the 55w kit. Your call. I like to protect my stock wires.

These are for your low beam. You don't need High Beam HID's, a waste of money in my opinion.

NO, I haven't done the fogs. I was going to wait until I had time to re-wire them, but now I want to wait until I can replace the lights completely.
 
Whatever you do, get a relay harness like others have said...wether you get the 35 or the 55 watt kit. GET THE HARNESS I have 35 watt hids and they blink trying to warm up.
Others have said hid hibeams are useless but my hibeams are TERRIBLE with my spyder auto projectors.
 


another question... is $105(with shipping) worth it for the vvme 55w h1 kit with relay harnesses?

or should i get it from diode dynamics for $90(not sure about shipping) for 35w h1 with relay harness?

or should i keep searching for a different site?
 
I ordered a DDMtuning kit a couple days ago...with 9005 35watt hi beams a relay harness for the hi beams and a relay harness with the low beam it came to 70 bucks after shipping

if you go to their ebay site they are normally cheaper
