HID DRL issue

I seen alot of posts about this but was wondering if anyone found a way to easily disable the drls on an 08 grand prix base model. I put the relay harness in with the hids but I still get the relay clicking like crazy and drls flash. Any idea at all to fix this?

Ahah we be on the same boat son, I forked over money for a relay and it didn't help me one bit. best way to disable is disconnect the sensor on the dash but then all your lights come on all the time as if it was nighttime which I don't like,

So what I had been doing and guess I will keep doing is flicking off the headlights during the day which becomes a pita

are relays less hard on the system or not?

04+ has a solid state module that looks just like a relay in the under hood fuse box. It supplies 70% during the day 100% at night. Works great for a day time running like system. Bad for a ballast that requires a good battery some source.

This also effects hid relay kits as the relay that triggers a good battery source you've wired in with the kit will also not have the required ammount to keep the relay engaged.

Trailblazers have the same setup and are also a pita. I do know that they can use a capacitor on the control circuit to keep the HDM (headlamp solid state relay) at full power.. I've never tried to wire one in on my 04 comp g but in my previous 04 gtp I had 5k 35watt hids on the stock wiring with no relay kit and it was fine.. never had an issue.

See you learn something everyday. Explains the issues on my buddies 06 when I saw none

I think I'm gonna look in to playing with the ebrake. If I ground the signal wire and clip the wire that triggers the alert on the message screen "in theory " it should work lol looking up schematics at work I think this should work

If u ground the brake your just going to get the brake warning light and continuous dinging.

Turn your headlights to ON whenever your driving. that's your easiest fix.

That's what I have been doing but don't the lights turn off with the ebrake on? Then cut the signal wire from bcm that puts on warning light
