HID bulb question

today i got my 55w kit installed today - 5k and i was wondering if i could use my old 8k bulbs from my 35w kit or do i have to get 55w bulbs?

its cool..the ballast determines the wattage..the 8k will probably be less blue than with a 35watt ballast
 
Don't want to high jack ya but ur not answering! I bought a gtp with the VVME 55watt 10K installed. And i was wondering if i can put a 6K in since everyone states that they are the best way to go for seeing and anything over that hurts our housings.

You can but your going to be shorting the lifespan of the bulbs. And color will be slightly different using a 55w ballast w/ a 35w bulb

You can just buy the right temp bulbs and yes anything over 6k isn't helping you it's more for color if anything.
