• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hi, I'm new and I just bought an 04 Comp G

helmet

New member
Have I mentioned that it took a divorce and 3 bad car experiences to finally get the car I wanted?
:)
here is my baby
gtp1.jpg

It is stock- as far as I can tell. already raced 2 hondas and a genesis, have minor issues to work out with it such as new tires, bad MAF sensor- surges and some downshifts slip a bit.
However, the MAF will work occasionally and it just makes me smile each time I hit the paddle to upshift.

List of things I want for Christmas this year are:
PCM Tune
U-Bend delete
Smaller pulley

Just to have those would get me close to 300 horse, increase my mileage (I drive a ton of highway) and put a smile on my face.

And my kids love the fact it will burn the tires in first.

I think thats about it.

let my hazing begin

no u-bend? sweet! I was reading elsewhere that it was in this year of car but not in 05+. Cant say I'm unhappy that it isn't there :)
as for the mods, I have followed up on the supporting mods to go with the PCM, etc. Plugs, new logs, and at some point an IC. Just waiting for the time from work to do the work

If your going to go into modifying as far as intercooling, your first mod should definitely be headers, look up SD's (speed daddys). And as i said definitely read up some more there's a lot of good information on here.

thank you
much appreciated to get some advice on these. I can read all day but practical knowledge from others here will be invaluable

Hey look another Red one >_<
I hope yours isn't the wrecked one in your av.
:(
I was looking for an orange one. The fusion orange is by far the best color they made. It just looks bad ass with tinted windows... menacing is a good word for it.

when I went to the lot to look at the one I bought, it was actually parked in back with a sold sign on it. Apparently some kid put a deposit down a couple hours before I got there, but the lot said the first one to get approved, wins :)

I won, he lost lol

It's not perfect, but most everything works. Occasionally, ESP and TC will tell me they need serviced, but if I turn the car off and fire it back up, the messages go away and TC works fine.
The sunroof motor isn't working, but it seems to be a switch that needs replaced. Hopefully its not the motor, but I'll find out tomorrow.

I'm eyeing a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires for it. It has badyear on it now and not a fan of them. I can get Mich for about 165 each from tire rack.
A friend recommended Nitto, but don't know anyone that runs them.

all issues aside, it runs great and I found the best road in KC for cornering and driving. It isnt overly technical but will make your palms sweat.

i could go on all day about it, but no need. You guys already understand :)

I looked up the steps to replace the motor and it seems to be a ton of work. In other words, it won't be the easy switch replacement :)

Welcome to the forum. Lots of info to be found here.

Whereabouts in kc are you from?

also what is this perfect road you speak of?

edit: I see you bought it from Midwest auto group, I recognize the picture. All their pictures are taken the exact same way. Hopefully they treated you well, went once and was not impressed.

Welcome. Before the hazing begins, there is a search box at the top center of the page. Each "category" has sticky's with some great how-to's and FAQ's. The search box works pretty good.

yup, I bought it there. Johnny was the nicest guy in the world until the bank approved my deal. After that, he was telling me that he won't make money on my deal, that I'll probably get the car repo'd, etc.
I wanted to hit him. I actually asked for another salesman to finish my deal. If it weren't for the fact I wanted that particular car so bad, I would have left... probably cuffed from hitting him repeatedly. The finance guy, Patrick, was really good to work with. No issues at all.

the perfect road is 87th between Raytown Rd and 350 Hwy.

I've been poking around here and there to get my footing, and I'm quite impressed with the level of knowledge collected.

Sunroof motor is pretty easy you just gotta take the headliner down

Thats the part I'm dreading. I'm not good with interiors unless it's to install a stereo, amps, wiring, speakers, etc.
I can turn wrenches just fine- used to be a mechanic before arthritis set in.
but I have no patience for interior work. :)

I don't remember who I dealt with, all I know is they couldn't give 2 ****s about their job. I went with a friend of mine, it took the guy 20 minutes to grab the keys for the car(we were the only people on the lot). It was 90 degrees and sunny also, standing and waiting to get this car unlocked. After looking at the car thoroughly I wanted to address some issues with the car, as well as ask if it had received any sort of inspection/what they knew about the car. He abruptly responded with "all of our cars have problems, I don't have time to look over every car."

We we quickly departed after that. This guy was a total jack wagon, everything about him screamed it.

I cant any say I've ever been down that road, I'll have to check it out :)

best of luck with the GP, again there's tons of info to be found on this site.
